Unauthorized charges/RIP OFF »July 1, 2010no07/09/20100
I did the 10 day free trial where you only have to pay shipping. 3 days after I signed up for the free trial I was billed $87.47 (which is still in my trial period). I called and canceled as soon as I found out on July 1st. They assured me I would get my money back because they mistakenly charged me during my trial period and that I would see the money in my account in 10-15 business days. When I called back on July 20th to see the status of my refund I was told that I had not canceled! The lady canceled it then and told me that she would forward my claim to billing (since it was not done previously like promised) and that I would receive my refund in 10-15 business days. On August 12th I was billed for another $87.47 so I called back and was told by a "Supervisor" that he guaranteed I would get all of my money back because I was wrongfully charged TWICE! Now when I just called I was told that I will only be receiving a refund from 1 charge of $87.47 because I had not canceled within my trial period! Which is weird since they charged me while I was in the trial period!! I still have no product and nothing is solved!!

Author House: Royalty Ripoff »2003-2010no07/09/20100
To my utter misfortune, I became acquainted and started to use the services offered by 1stBooks publishers now known as Authorhouse, and published my first two books in 2003. At the time, I detected no problem with their services and accepted that being my work was academic, would not sell many copies. I decided to publish my third book with them, a large 2 volume edition in 2008, and due to the reviews and publicity received, and the professors that contacted me personally, I became fully aware of the university libraries and public libraries who processed my work into their establishments, or were interested in my work. However, I noticed the first major discrepancy in their promises was that if I turned my manuscript in within a certain time frame, I would receive fourteen free copies of my work when it was printed. I e-mailed my text, and mailed my contract via snail-mail two weeks before the deadline, I know it arrived on time—I live in Europe, and mail does not take longer than 4 to 8 days to arrive in the US, however, they could not honour the free copy agreement as they hadn't received the contracts on time. They never mentioned the agreement included receiving the contracts, just the manuscript. I received just my usual free review copy of each volume. I decided to let the matter go. Then, they have a very careless attitude with other aspects of their services. For example, their Press Wire program that sends your Press Release electronically to 14,000 media outlets. Where did I find my academic books being promoted? In the financial sections of these media outlets, and not to my target audience found in the academic, history, biography, or even literature, areas. (I also discovered my university level academic book on classical music categorised as a “children's book”.) However, the major problems developed with royalty accounting. I began keeping a record of the copies available of my new two-volume work at Amazon US, UK, Canada, and their Marketplace vendors. (This is practically the only way you can discern how many books may be selling in the public domain.) Considering this is Print On Demand, when a number of available copies drops, you can expect it to be a sale since stores have no reason to keep raising and dropping the numbers unless they make a sale and then re-list the book. (For the record, I withdrew all my publications from Authorhouse June 14th 2010.) Authorhouse's numbers were way below the daily tallies I kept from the Amazon numbers, they only reported between 10% and maybe up to 20% of the sales on any given quarter. Today for example, I received the worst report yet: they reported only 1 copy of Volume One sold in the second quarter (April 1 to June 14th, the time I withdrew my publications from them), and only 3 copies for Volume 2. According to my numbers from the Amazon rankings and marketplace sellers in the US, Canada and UK: 28 copies of Volume 1 sold, and 27 of Volume 2. Therefore they have reported only 4% of the sales, and they obviously are pocketing the rest. And this does not include other sales that may have been made through other sellers like Barnes and Noble, etc. However, there is no way to be compensated for these discrepancies, Authorhouse demands you provide receipts of all sales as proof of your claim—how on earth do you track such receipts? Authorhouse knows it's an impossibility. Of course, Nielsen Book Scan offers sales report services, but you cannot use them to reclaim royalties, or display or disclose your sales report to any third party as Nielsen deems such action a breach of trademark confidentiality and would possible incur a lawsuit. The simplest answer would be to cancel all contracts with Authourhouse, but this is not as easy as they make it out to be. To date, they continue to reassure me my books are no longer in print, but as I have discovered today (September 7), they are still listed with UK wholesale distributors as available within 5 days as Print on Demand, so they are technically still available by Authorhouse illegally. 1st Books / Authorhouse in my estimation is the most disreputable company allowed to carry on a business offering a sham service to the public, robbing authors of the fruits of their labours. Surely they are required to have a business license to operate as all other businesses? How can any state issue a license and continue to allow such a rogue business like this to continue? They are operating on such a large scale, and if they are doing this to every author, then one must consider the possibility they are committing grand larceny on a massive scale. They claim to have thousands of authors with their company. Authors Beware: if you are considering publishing your book using Print On Demand, stay well away from this company. Even if they paid all the royalties, they do little or nothing to help promote your work, but expect you to pay additional hundreds and even thousands for various promotion packages that provide little if no results. For those of you poor authors who now hold a contract with Authorhouse publishing your work, my sympathies go out to all of you.

I ordered this product on 3rd August, I received the product after they took the first £57.64 from my account and as a result I phoned to 1st complain and 2nd to cancel. The telephone number they have supplied is bogus and they have since taken a further £60.03 from my account. I cannot do a claim through my bank as I supplied them with my card details and am still in possession of the product. £127.67 is a lot of money for a single mum and what this company has done is completely out of order

shame on you »sept. 3,2010no06/09/20100
i signed up for a 14 day free trial offer on a colon cleanse system. when i tried to cancel the membership, the site had no options for customer service, no options at all except to sign up. when i recieved my bank statement there was the charge to my account and i called the phone number to try to cancel by phone. the first woman i talked to was Missy, terrible accent, couldn't understand much of what she was saying, i had to keep asking her to repeat everything. she told me there would be an email sent with a link to go to to cancel, i should recieve it in 2-3 hours. no email 4 hours later, so being friday afternoon i called again and talked with Ella #973. She assured me than she was sending the email as soon as possible. again no email. no way to cancel. i am going to the bank first thing monday morning to close my account. what a pain in the rear, lose that money plus take time off from work, not to mention i couldnt even enjoy the long weekend for fear that all my money would be gone before i could get to the bank. never again.

VERY BAD SCAM I read about a free trial for a teeth whitening kit, under the name of vivid white smile, now known as either everbright or many other names they are known under! I payed for the p+p which was 3 USD something. Recievd my package within a couple of weeks with no instructions no letter with any information about how many days the trail was for or even were it had came from, no signature or anything. When i got my next bank statement the p+p amount was on there aswell as a sum of 58pound.. this had came out without me even knowing.. surely this is illegal. Also i had another 58pound pending to come out..i was on the phone to my bank for a very long time, i put a stop to my card and snapped it up. When i got my new card through i got a lovely letter sayin i was ovedrawn by 23 pound which is because the 58 pound had come out my account! Being currently unemployed at the moment after my contract had come to an end money is very tight but I know i had left enough money in my account to cover my phone bill before the 58 pound came out. I had to beg my mum to put some money in my account to stop the daily overdrawn charges piling up, cancle my direct debit for my phone which is due out in a few days time, so not yet am i broke and oweing people money because of this scam iv got to go through the palava of setting up a new bank account and close my one down who iv been with for years all beacause of this rediculous scam, iv lost out on what is alot of money to me at this present time, wasted to much time and had no help as the bank has been useless!

Acai Berry Scam »02/09/2010yes02/09/20100
I saw the adverts for Acai berry and decided that I would give it a try. The Advert stated I would only be charged for the shipping which was $1.49 (hard to believe) and on their terms and conditions it stated that I would be charged the full amount of the product after the 10 day free trial period. After ordering the product, 10 mins later I received a call from my bank asking me to confirm if I authorised a payment of £65.12 to a company in Panama!!! I quickly confirmed that I did not and that I did authorise a payment of $1.49. Not only did they take the $1.49, they followed up with a charge of £65.12 and not even after the 10 day free trial which they state in the T&C's. My bank can't help my because I used my card details to pay for the product, which they class as a "point of sale". I now have gone over my agreed overdraft, and as a result will be charged for this. I am really not happy about this. I tried contacting the company from their websied "Mydietmaxcleanse.com" but the telephone number they have on their website does not exist (surprise surprise) and I am beginning to think the postal address might not either. Please can someone help!!!!! thanks

Diet Max Acai Berry SCAM »July 2010no01/09/20100

I stupidly applied for a free trial of this product costing just p+p of £3.84 and as I received a bottle of pills thought nothing of it!! I then realised after the fraud team at my bank contacted me that 2 amounts of nearly £60 a time had been withdrawn. The card used has now been cancelled, but I am worried that they may still keep sending me the goods as I can't contact them to cancel. Is there any way of getting my money back? They have also emailed me asking me to click on a link and receive $100 worth of free goods, which I haven't replied to!! I just can't believe I have been so stupid, but their terms and conditions were hardly visible!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I ordered and initial FREE TRIAL bottle of one of their natural products and it made me sick so I sent them an email to cancel any further deliveries of the product. The next month another bottle showed up and another $90 charge on my card. I wrote another email only after several attempts to reach someone on the phone to cancel and get refunded for the additional bottle. I heard nothing back from them and I have now just gotten a 3rd bottle and another $90 charge on my card! This is crazy! how do I stop this and get my money back?

Acai Berry Supplement »30/8/2010yes30/08/20100
I ordered the Acai Berry Supplement and printed out the Terms & Conditions. I read that I had 10 days to trial the product before I could cancel repeat supply. The only problem is, I can't get in contact with the company via phone (a recorded message says the number is disconnected) and there is no email on the website. I have one day left on the trial and the supplement hasn't even arrived in the mail yet! I took a print out of the web page to my doctor and he advised it would not be something he would advise me to take, so I definately want to cancel. Though, now I don't know what to do and don't want to be charged $87.00 for something I haven't even reeived yet.

Spin Direct/ Spin Master LTD or Whatever they go by Now!!!! I attempted to purchase Moon Dough as advertised on TV and Internet by Spin Direct as a Birthday present for my Daughter (after much badgering). I am always weary of purchasing on the internet but the website and TV adds were very convincing. I ordered the special offer purchase of 'Double the Dough, Double the Tools' for £29:99! I then recieved a reciept and invoice on 6/08/10 advising me that I would be getting my purchase within 4 business days. I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIEVED IT. I went back onto the website to use the Username and Password I was given to track my order. There is no log in facility that I could find. The telephone number comes back as not recognised and the email address doesn't exist. I tried to @Connect with Us' as they advise on their website theough FACEBOOK and Twitter. The pages on Both don't exist. IN SHORT THIS WHOLE COMPANY IS A SCAM. Everytime you search for information on them or contact details their address is different. The first time I searched they were in California USA, Then I found a british address in Buckinghamshire........no joy there. Now I have an address in Toronto CANADA! i ALSO HAVE A NEW EMAIL ADDRESS............Will update if I have any Joy with this. ACAI OPTIMUM »26/8/10no28/08/20100
I recently signed up for a 'free trial' of acai optimum health tablets from Nutrimax. After putting my card details in for the £2.55 postage and packaging I then noticed in the terms and conditions that it said unless i cancelled the order within 10 days of purchase I would be charged $87 from my account for the 'trial' and then subsequent charges of the same amount out of my account for every month following and more tablets sent out to me. I suddenly realized it could be a scam so I then looked for an email to write to them, there was no email address. I telephoned the number and there was no such number. I then tried the USA (800) number and again this was false. I then saw online that somebody else had been duped and had been charged out of their account so I rushed to the bank to cancel my account so that they could not draw anymore money out. I feel I have been fortunate to have cancelled my bank so that they could not get any money off me but I am now worried that they will keep harrassing me. I searched the address online and found that there was no company listed at the address. I telephoned UPS who are at the same address and asked them about Nutrimax. They informed me that all the company has is a mailbox there!!! Get the robbing company done for fraud!!!!!!!!!!

Unauthorized Charges On The Credit Card »August 20, 2010no28/08/20101
My situation is exactly the same someone post here, in your site (copy bellow). In my case, this is my first action, i did not contact the Company yet because i can t find phone number or email. If anyone knows a way to contact them, please tell me. Isn t there any entity that controlls these abusive opperations? "I ordered a free trial the same thing as many people did before, to make a long story short I have 4 charges on my credit card which I was not aware of. The first three charges were from "DazzlinSmile8664453661" each time $87.47 US, one charge was from "BRIGHT WHITE 8008649903 EL TECAL" the amount was $87.47. I called to cancel of course when I realized this is a scam on August 9, 2010, they said it takes 48 hours to receive their cancellation. I called back 36 hours later, this time they repeated the same thing, they refused to send me an email to confirm but rather repeatedly said that I can be assured of that my account has already cancelled and they gave me the confirmation number. I demanded them to send the email, they said it has to make a request to their email department to send out the cancellation and they don't do it over the phone, it sounded so much uneducated scam! I am not sure which name they are going to change next. Can someone really stop this low life scam? Or can they evolve from one form to another and continue to scam people every day?"
