Acai berry, which almost everyone has heard of by now, are promoted as the miracle fruit, which cures great array of health problems, can help us live much longer, and even greatly improve our sexual abilities. However, despite the often aggressive advertising and the bold claims, how many of these statements are true and are the Accai berries superior to the blueberries or raspberries, which you could easily purchase from any large supermarket?
We should state there is little doubt that Acai berries are good for you – they are packed with antioxidants and eating a handful of them every now and then is highly recommended. However, nutritionists are in favor of getting our daily vitamins and antioxidants from various sources and advocate the use of different fresh vegetables and fruits in our diets. Moreover, while some studies have confirmed that the Acai berry concentrates have higher levels of antioxidants that the concentrates from most of the berries that we know well, these facts have not been yet confirmed by independent or trustworthy sources.
This berry, which is native to Brazil and highly praised and used there, it is one of the most widely advertised solutions for weight loss as well. It is sold in the form of juices and dietary supplements on thousands of web sites and “Acai berry” is one of the few buzz phrases, which have gained such tremendous popularity in the past few years. Despite the Internet frenzy and the increasing popularity of this exotic to most of us berry, its abilities to shed off extra weight easily and quickly is still to be backed up by any scientific proof. According to many, sensible diet and regular exercises is the only way to get and stay in shape and even though consuming fresh berries and certain food supplement could have its benefits, professional nutritionists believe that consuming cheaper and locally produced fruits and vegetables is probably the more sensible approach.
While there is certainly nothing wrong with enjoying Accai berry smoothie or juice, you should always keep in mind that this is a fruit just like many others and highly unlikely to cure chronic illnesses or diabetes. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars online on supplements, you should speak to your healthcare provider or nutritionist and ask them to help you choose a balanced diet.
