[15/02/2011] Framingham towing company falls victim of insurance scam
Local towing company might have fallen a victim of an insurance scam, which was allegedly committed by a licensed insurance agent. The agent sold the towing company a policy for commercial auto liability insurance in November last year, but when two accidents were reported, it was quickly discovered that the policy was not genuine. The insurance agent kept collecting the monthly payments, but did not use them to buy insurance for the local towing company Townando and the policy that he issued to them had a number, which matched the insurance policy of another party. Townando is asking for $25 000 settlement since they had to cover the accident damages from their own pocket, but have not filed a lawsuit at present. While the licensed agent issued the policy through Pilgrim Insurance, the Pilgrim spokesperson said that the agent has never worked for them directly, but rather his agency was an involuntary agent that worked with them.
