[15/03/2011] The CWG scam – an executive kept in CBI custody
The executive of an Indo-Swiss firm, Sandeep Wadhwa, was ordered by a Delhi court to remain in CBI’s custody for four days in order for his involvement in the Commonwealth Game’s scam to be investigated. The judge has reached the decision after incriminating material had been found, which material links Sandeep Wadhwa to a corruption case, involving contracts to supply equipment for the Commonwealth Games. The collected evidence showed that the detained executive of the Indo-Swiss firm Nussli had paid bribe to OC officials in two installments and while the court allowed family visits, the judge said that the CBI custody was necessary in order for the conspiracy to be investigated further, and other co-accused and documents to be looked into.
