Claim title: REFUND
[24/08/2010] Jeankhan: Wentworth direct I put in for loan u sent me form I sent it bk I haven't heard nothing about it canbunphone me please on 07545559935
[01/04/2009] John Adams: A similar thing happened to me, although when I first refused to pay £49.00 they reduced the fee to £39.00. I am starting to think I will never get my money back. I have submitted the complaint to a site called WeComplain4U.comm who are trying to get me a refund back as we speak. Fingers crossed, I'll let you know how it goes.
[06/04/2009] Suzanna E: I am in the same position as yourselves. I also paid £49 fee and to date have not had a loan or recieved my money back. Each time I call it works out to be very expensive as you are held in a queue that always seems to put you at no.20! You are then on the phone for at least 15 minutes. They are obviously making money from the calls we make to their company. I'm dissapointed and very frustrated as they prey in the less fortunate. I'm in a terrible state as I need to pay my creditors to keep them at bay. This company should be STOPPED!!
[04/09/2009] stuart clatworthy: I TO AM IN THE SAME POSITION I HAD A PHONE CALL SAYING I HAD BEEN EXCEPTED FOR THE LOAN AMOUNT AND THAT THEY NEEDED MY CARD DETAILS SO THAT THEY COULD PUT MONEY IN AS SOON AS I SIGNED THE PAPERS ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THEY HAVE TAKEN 118 POUNDS FROM MY ACCOUNT WHICH I DID NOT AGREE TO OR HERE ANYTHING ABOUT TAKING MONEY OUT TRYING TO PHONE THEM IS A JOKE AS YOU WILL NOT GET THROUGH YOUR PUT ON A AUTOMATED SYSTEM BASICLY MEANS THAT YOUR CALL WILL NEVER GET ANSWERED THERES A GOOD CHANCE THAT THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONES KNOWING PEOPLE WONT HOLD FOR OVER AN HOUR THIS COMPANY IS COMMITING FRAUD IN SO MANY WAYS SO IM GOING STRAIGHT TO WATCH DOG TO NAME AND SHAME THEM .
[21/01/2010] Jerry: This is all the information you will ever need about this rotten company. This is for anybody who is currently dealing with them, like I once did. I'm here to shed the light on everything once and for all. This has taken a lot of research and patience so and it is my duty to share it with you all; and would welcome your additional findings. I have obtained most of this from an insider.
Wentworth Direct Finance Ltd (Company Registration Number 04017809) operate a few websites and fake loan brokers.
Wentworthcredit dot co dot uk and cus4unsecuredloans dot co dotuk .
Wentworth is a one man band owned by Anthony Grant Clayton and his mother. It operates from 4 The Mews, Wrotham Road, Gravesend, Kent DA13 0QB where legal documents and visits should be made. 63 Asylum Road, London, SE15 2RJ being his mother's address, although she is a named director. They use a BT freephone 0800 083 0632 and BT high-cost national 0870 4449800 number to dupe naive consumers into expensive APR loans as well as keeping their "brokerage fees". No loan is ever processed and their sister company Ralph Marlon is also fake.
Consumer Credit Licence Number 469755 is quoted on their literature and sites although this puts the OFT to shame. More legal action against these organisations and the individuals behind them is required by the OFT and FSA as well as HMRC who are losing tax revenue in unreported retained loan arrangement fees. While the OFT took action against Wentworth in April 2004 when they breached the law with misleading advertisements using another of their names, Direct Home Improvements Limited (Wentworth Direct Finance) they will continue to act in an illegal fashion until they anger a good lawyer. Needless to say their accounts haven't been properly made up for years - infact Wentworth Direct Finance Limited is officially dormant.
Currently Wentworth Finance employ the services of a call centre company called Symmetry plc. www dot symmetryplc dot com

Here is where the real hub bubbles under the guises of an everday call centre. I should pay THEM a visit if you want your money back. They are currently managed by a revolving door of management, but you will need to speak to either a Sarah, Robin, Beverly, Simon or Harold.
Good luck. Let's tear this disgusting business apart!
[22/05/2010] john gillett: This 'broker' is just like YES loans, they peter you with phone call after phone call, and bloody emails and mail shots in the post, basically they are preying on the fact that you have approached them as a 'last stop' lender having been turned down by mainstream finance companies, they take the money, promise the earth and deliver - in most cases f*ck all, or a loan with an APR the length of the distance to the moon and back. Rule 1) if you get a mailshot from these jokers, wipe your ass on it and send it back, b) NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER pay their asking fee, you'll be out of pocket and STILL with no loan, whilst there is nothing illegal in what they do, basically theyre a shitty bunch of shark brokers acting on behalf of finance companies, to which they get commissions too, so they make off you TWICE. Best avoided at all costs unless you ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE A LOAN AT WHATEVER COST AND ARE PREPARED TO TAKE THE GAMBLE, their ploy is to send a letter offering a reduced (laugh) fee of 45.00 in the hope you'll take them up on it, a bunch of dirty filthy scummy sharks, and its about time the government made a statutory body to sort these bastards out, and fine and IMPRISON the directors, nothing more than doorstep lenders preying on the poor and vulnerable of society.
in a word - PURE F*CKING SCUM !!
[24/11/2010] Lloydy777: Read all you need to know about WENTWORTH DIRECT FINANCE....
http://wentworthdirectfinance.webs.com/
[20/12/2010] samantha swan: same thing happened to me. i got charged £59.00!!
[15/04/2011] karen jones: I HAVE BEEN STUNG JUST LOKE ALL OF YOU BY WENTWORTH DIRECT FINACE AND CITI FINACIAL UK I THINK THE ONLY WAY FORWARD IS TO DEAL WITH THESE A---RS HOLES ONCE AND FOR ALL I HAVE HAD BOTH TAKE FEES FROM ME THEN TOLD MY BANK I WANT IT BACK THEY GOT IT BACK THROUGH VISA CHARGE BACK THEN WENTWORTH TODAY HAVE GONE AND TOOK IT BACK AGAIN MY BANK ARE GOING TO BE HELD RESPOANSIBLE NOW FOR REPAYING IT BACK TO THEM LIKE IDIOTS.i AM WILLING TO SORT THESE PEOIPLE OUT PERSONALLY AND SOON WHO FEELS THE SAME AS I DO THEY CAN NO LONGER GET AWAY WITH THIS THEY NEED STOPPING AND I WILL DO IT;;;;;;;
[02/08/2011] D.Wickham: I was generally looking for a loan in June 2011, contacted wentworth via web enquiry form and they sent me a text confirming that my loan had been accepted and to ring this number which was a 0844 high cost telephone line which I did, they then asked to verify my current account and requested long number on my visa card and expiry date at which point I became very suspicious and asked them why they required this information, at this point they detailed a £16 pound and some pence admin fee and was I happy to pay this now I said no I wasnt and would ring them back, for an hour I looked on the web and found all these similar details regarding wentworth so then telephoned them back to confirm that I was not interested in their services and to confirm that they would not be looking to take any money from my account, there is more to the conversation but I have written that up and am sending it to the trading standards departement of my local council as well as the police as from the conversation that I had then they are acting in a manner to defraud and my very strong advice is STAY AWAY FROM WENTWORTH.
[21/07/2011] Stephen: HI All,
I have just run into Wentworth finance swell, but fortunately clicked it was a scam before giving them my final card details (I hope). Anyway, if any one would like to phone them I have the number right here which seems to get through. It is 01753 251848. Ive phoned them four times today, just to say hello. It seems to annoy the same guy I keep speaking to (yes, the same man every phone call). This implies to me it certainly is a scam. Do not fall for it. Good luck with getting your money back. Go on, give them a call.

[18/06/2010] Jenna Doran: i applied for a loan about 3 months ago and i emailed Wentworth Direct telling them if any money left my bank i would seek legal advice after i read about this scam of theirs. I didnt hear anything from them until i went to draw my money out of the bank and it was £59.00 light, the bank couldn't tell me anything as it was a pending request but i couldn't do anything about it. I did tell the bank manager not to let this money go and that i would cancel my card but he told me not to as the money wouldn't be allowed to be taken. Now im a 21yr old single mother with a baby who is 8months and when they took this money i couldn't afford to buy things i needed for my son, he was very ill when he was born so needs alot of things now which i couldnt provide for him because of these rip of artists. Please if theirs anyone out there who can help me get my babies money back i would be very grateful. Thanks
[16/01/2011] TRICIA-ANNE: I TOO WAS SCAMMED BY THIS COMPANY DO NOT USE THEM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
[20/01/2011] :
[28/02/2011] Lisa Ravenstone: Huge numbers of scam and fraud complaints on other forums. Always read the T&C before proceeding and if you're after a loan, use the FSA website first.

[24/10/2010] ANGELA: THANKS VERY MUCH FOR STOPPING ME BEING ROBBED!!! IVE CANCELLED MY BANK CARD TO STOP THEM TAKING MONEY OUT!! CAN I JUST ASK HAVE YOU CONTACTED ACTION FRAUD? THIS WEBSITE SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!!
[05/11/2010] g booth: this guy also operates under licience no 469755 as wentworth direct finance
[24/03/2011] Sir Ralph Marlon: Yeah, I got done by these theives as well. I had a txt message from them, and they sounded legit and I fell for it, and they took my £70. They said a company called First Capital handles their loans (funny, I thought that was a London bus firm?). I was told in 'a few working days' I will get correspondence. I did, and it was from an unknown called TFS Loans, these monkies have even made their logo look like Barclaycard's - but in orange instead of blue! The APR's were an eye-watering 85% and I never bothered to fill it in. I found this forum and read about 'Ralph Marlon' and that's the trading name of Wentworth. Ralph Marlon will also ask for a fee and say they are entitled to 10% of your loan if you are 'successful' They wanted me to send passport pictures, and several payslips 'to see if I can pay £400 a month'.
I declined, and I will frame their loan application - I'll have to PDF the thing to make others aware...
STAY AWAY FROM THE CLAYTON FAMILY and their dodgy Peckham Loan operation...
I just want to know which bank has provided them with the PDQ machine to drain people of their money... The name Asylum Road is an apt address for these guys... as for the Meopham address - I think it's time a mob went and paid them a visit (if 4 The Mews exists!)
I will have to borrow off friends or find more legit companies in the meantime... :) I may have to cancel my card, I will most definately notify my bank and say its a fraudulent transaction... :(
[24/03/2011] Sir Ralph Marlon: PS when you do call these guys, they sometimes to be from overseas and speak Pidgin English in the hope you hang up. In reality, theyre in Slough in a call centre (Mr Clayton has used a bogus company to do his evil work and collect bank account numbers to drain them)
Ralph Marlon, TFS, Wentworth are all bogus companies, they have been known to sell people's bank accounts to criminals in the Far East where this finances the drugs trade. The best thing to do is cancel any cards and tell your bank a fraudulent transaction has been carried out on the card. Hopefully your bank will repay you.
Any loan you have to pay for upfront (like a broker's fee) is usually a scam. Stick to the High Street lenders, not the cowboys. Not even the grubby firms that advertise in the back of The Sun stoop as low as these lot.
DO NOT USE ANY LOAN BROKER - IT IS ALL FRAUD

[01/08/2011] fiona ohara: I recently applied for a loan with wentworth direct and paid my fee of £69 only to
be sent a letter from their SISTER company another loan broker not a loan company
when I called wentworth to ask for a refund they told me to put it in writing and it could take 30 days for refund yet they are so quick at taking your money from
your bank account and so slow at giving you it back still no loan. DO NOT USE WENTWORTH DIRECT FINANCE IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR MONEY!
[07/09/2012] Daniel Rowntree: Hi I know i am a new member and this might be hard to believe but i applied for a guarantor loan with Ralph Marlon and they got me one with TFS loans. I didn't pay any upfront fees how ever they did add on £1k to my loan amount over 5 years. I must also say i have had no dealings with Wentworth Financial.

[04/03/2012] Teresa: Just another beware to other potential victims of wentworth finance. When I applied for a loan my alarm was alerted when I was asked for a broker fee, I declined as I hadnt yet had a loan confirmed and asked if I could pay it later on completion. I was told that was fine and my paperwork would be in the post. I had given them minimal account information as they said they needed to confirm my account, again i was very cagey and did not give them my full card details or security code. I have just found 3 weeks later that they have taken £69 out of my bank account! How? without my full card details? I will be contacting my bank tomorrow but am unsure if they will be able to do anything. Please dont give them any information at all. But having said that if you are reading this site the chances are its too late!!! Surely something can be done about these low lifes!!!!!!!
[16/04/2013] adam joyce: hi there i have recently found out that the address for Ralph Marlon is the same address as another company called tma loans operating out of Leeds i have the full address which is TMA Loans Limited

Other so called broker firms and loan company's have been given my personal details, I hate to think that they have been reference checking making my credit file worse than it already is. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! I have just been introduced to Money Saving Expert by Martin Lewis, makes a great read, and gives lots of useful information and unbiased opinions. Still it doesn't help my situation!

Now from what I am reading on here I think it is about time all these complaints should be recorded and sent to watchdog and these scumbags brought to justice.
I am very angry about these thieves stealing from decent people and feel so strongly they need to be stopped and made to pay back my son's money and everyone who they stole from.

[30/06/2010] Wentworth Financial Services: Hi,
Unfortuntely it seems you are yet at another who has fell for this companies practices. Couple of points.
We are Wentworth Financial Services and are by no way associated with this firm. We do offer <a href="http://www.wentworthfs.co.uk/loans">Unsecured Personal Loans</a> through our website http://www.wentworthfs.co.uk/loans. We do not charge an upfront broker fee and encourage all not to pay such a fee.
You mention you have written to the FSA however 'Wentworth Direct Finance' are not registered with the FSA, nor do they need to be as they only broker Loans the regulator who deals with this is the Office of Fair Trading and Wentworth Direct Finance do have a Consumer Credit License for this.
Jerry Olsten has compiled alot of information on this firm including contact address and telephone numbers see his posts on complaints board: -
http://www.complaintsboard.com/panel.php?action=profile&id=379578
I would suggest you first try to contact Wentworth Direct Finance and if you are unsuccessful then take your complaint to the Office of Fair Trading and Financial Ombudsman Service.

[01/07/2010] alana elliot: yeah this happened to me aswell, i got a call from wentworth direct finance yesterday 30/6/10 to say that my application had been sucessful and that he would send out a credit agreement for me to sign before anything would be taken from my account, he asked for my bank details and i asked why he was wanting them and he also said 'to see if it is a uk bank accout' anyway 59.00 is pending in my bank account from them as i contacted my bank and they said it was from wentworth direct finance, and i have sent out 2 letters to the company, telling them i want a refund, i cant believe this company does this to people it is a case of fraud, as they say your application has been accepted but them you get another letter to say you have not been accepted.
i hope to hear from the company by 9th july next friday, i have tried calling them vut all i get is a rude person on the phone and cutting me off, if i do not recieve my refund or dont recieve anything (ie my refund) after 30 days, i will be taking further action.

[11/11/2010] Louis Harrison: The same happened to me with those scums. They took £59 from my bank account without authorisation. They use unlawful and un ethical tactics to steal money from people. All in all it mounts to deception.
I contacted the Police and insisted they treat it as deception to obtain money. They have accepted my complaint and gave me a reference number. I also contacted the Financial Ombudsman and they will be sending a letter to them tomorrow. I also logged it with Consumer Direct/Office of Fair Trading (OFL). I contacted BBC's Watch Dog and emailed many national newspapers as well as media websites and newspapers in the Kent area. Even though they keep referring to their Freepost address, I managed to obtain the address where they are operating from. This is Unit 4, The Mews (rest of address is the same except that the postcode is DA13 0QB). I am going after them and I will use every avenue possible to get those Bastards. I posted 3 letters to them, one to the Unit 4 address, one to the address in Companies House and the other to I believe is the guy's mum's address in London. If you did not know, the guy who is running the scam is called Anthony Grand Clayton. His mum who is supposed to be a director too lives at 63 Asylum Road, London, SE15 2RJ.
I think what we should all do is, if possible meet up outside their offices to protest. This will certainly attract the media and the authorities. I am up for it if people are. By the way, there are a couple of groups on Facebook relating to this company where people send it their complaints. But, unless we collectively do something about it, nothing will be done and this Anthony Bastard will get away with it.

[26/11/2010] helpful info: hello, similar thing happened to me but with a different company called loan-centre.net. they're trying to charge you a brokers fee and may try to take more payments as its more than likely you are now a 'member' of their 'services'. first of all cancel your card so they cant take anymore payments. you can get your 'brokers fee' back if you act fast as theres a 14 day cooling off period. write a letter telling them to cancel any membership you may have with them and refund any charges as you are within the 14 day cooling off period, include a self addressed stamped envelope and send the whole thing recorded delivery (costs about £1), this is worth doing as you can 'track and trace' your letter to see when it arrives. also state in you letter that in accordance with trading standards you must have your refund with you in no longer than 10 days. hope this helps.

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing in regards to my recent loan application. I have paid the fee of £AMOUNT-HERE on the DATE-HERE. However, I do not wish to proceed any further with your services. I believe I am within my rights to request refund of the fee paid minus a £5 administration charge as detailed in the terms and conditions, please see below:
Fees
11. We charge a fee for providing our services. We specify the fee as part of our communications with You. If We provide You with no services other than acting as a loan or finance broker and You do not effect a loan or debt related solution offered by a lender or finance related company within the 10 weeks We act for You, We will refund the fee less the £5 brokerage fee provided for by the Consumer Credit Act 1974. Refunds must be requested in writing to avoid refunds being sent to a wrong or previous address. To facilitate Us processing payments and post dated payments You authorise Us to retain your charge, credit or debit card details.
12. If We provide services other than acting as a loan or finance broker, We shall be entitled to the entire fee for those services. If We introduce You to a lender or financier that makes You a loan or finance offer, in addition to the fee you pay us We may also receive a variable commission from the lender or financier (more detail is available on request) and You agree that We may retain it.
If after we enter into this agreement you commission us to perform another service for you such as our ‘Credit research’ service then you agree that the initial broker fee you paid us will be transferred over by us to cover our charges for this separate service. You understand that even if we are unsuccessful in finding you an acceptable loan but you commission us to perform an additional service such as our ‘Credit research’ service then this will forfeit your right to a refund for your brokerage fee.
13. Under Financial Services (Distance Marketing) Regulations 2004 you have a right to cancel your application within 14 days of receiving these terms and conditions and receive a refund. If You wish to cancel your application, You must write to UnsecuredLoanCompany.net notifying us. In this event We will refund your fee within 14 days of the date on which You write to Us to cancel your application. Any such requests should be made to: Customer Service Department, UnsecuredLoanCompany.net, Third Floor, Dale House, Stockport, SK1 1TB.
I no longer require any services but thank you in advance for a speedy reply to this letter and speedy resolution to my refund request,
Regards

Claim title: brokers fee 69.95
[25/05/2012] MB: below is a template of a letter I used and recieved a full refund from them, just remember to change dates and amounts. I hope this helps.
Dear Sir / Madam
I am writing to request that you refund to me the £59 you have illegally taken from my bank account. I was informed by my bank that this payment of £59 was taken on 28 Feb 2011.
When I originally spoke to your representative I was told that you had a loan arranged for me, although he would not tell me with whom, and that all I had to do was to complete the forms that would be duly sent out to me.
AT NO POINT was there any mention of a £59 fee, and I was actually conned into providing my debit card details as I was told that they were needed to ‘pay the loan into my account’.
As I am sure you are aware taking money from another by DECEPTION is a CONTRAVENTION OF THE THEFT ACT and punishable by up to 10 years in prison plus a fine.
Indeed, your credit broker licence dictates that you cannot in six months time ask for more than a nominal fee. Certainly NOT £59 and certainly NOT before you have provided access to a loan.
You have 7 days from the date of this letter to provide the refund of £59, and not a penny less, or I will be forced to pursue this matter with the OFT, Financial Ombudsman, Small Claims Court, Police, or any other means at my disposal.
Yours Sincerely
