Company: Trade price hot tubs

    more details »»

Claim title: Deposit

[25/02/2009] Dave: Although I can not yet comment on the quality of the item, I will comment as follows :
I paid for the item on 2/9/8 and 26 weeks later I am still chasing Spa Serve / Trade Price Hot Tubs /HDI Enterprises or whatever name they prefer to call themselves. Even now after 26 weeks they will only comment as far as to say 'We are expecting delivery sometime in March' !! God knows when I would get it. I paid £4,300 and if I want to cancel they are going to retain £1500. I am now pursuing the matter via the small claims court.

[20/08/2010] UltimateLime: Go to You Tube and look up Hot Tub Horrors - Hot Tub RIP - you will see video of my piece of junk being dismantled. i got a full refund from Egg - thank you thank you - after paying deposit of £500 on CC and rest by cheque. Spa Serve/Trade Pirce hot Tub Group didnt care one iota and the cost and 18 month hassle was tremendous but a full refund and a destruction of the piece of junk excellent. I hope noone else suffers - do not touch these charlatans with a barge pole.

[07/09/2009] bob: please please beware this company. not one of these hot tubs have ever come from the US they are 100% Chinese. Google Chinese hot tubs and see if you recognise the images. The likelihood of ever receiving a hut tub are slim and even slimmer if you want one to work. If guided to a web site called spareviewcentre.com again beware this is not a genuine forum ask the questions as to who owns the rights to it and to those companies mentioned on it, guess what trade price group. never pay a deposit and certainly never pay in full. Ask yourself the question why cant they take credit cards. Banks refuse to give credit card facilities where companies have had a previous credit card facility but have had to many claw backs and fail to deposit a large amount with the bank to cover those claw backs. As soon as you write that cheque wave good bye to your money. Dont do it go to a reputable dealer you get what you pay for.

[23/06/2009] Liz Oliver: I ordered a hot tub from this company on 08/12/2008 and today is the 23/06/2009 and I am still waiting to discover when this hot tub is going to leave the manufacturer in China! Like a fool I beleived all the false promises, fell for the sharp practices and have cancelled the order and made several requests for a refund of the full cost of the goods to be met with silence. Consumer direct have told me that this company broke the law when they failed to tell me in writing that I had a right to cancel the contract which was signed in my home and by failing to give equal prominance to Cancellation terms in their terms and conditions. They also advised me that the clause "Time is not of the essence" in their terms and conditions is not open ended but governed by what would be considerated reasonable. They are investigating the company and have advised me to take the company to Court.

[03/02/2010] tough 1: 30 sept stuart came to us and lied through his teeth i have written to them today asking for a refund in full. we were like many oters told our spa would be american made....they are not! our spa would be withus in about 8 weeks another outragous lie! I will do whatever I have to to get my money back, and I mean anything. We need to stop these cheats, we are 18 weeks on and my patience has finally run out. I will keep everyone informed of progress court dates etc.

Claim title: Cancellation of Order and Refund

[20/08/2010] Ultimatelime: Go and look at You Tube - Hot Tub RIP - you will see my hot tub piece of junk being destroyed and taken away after getting a refund from my credit card compnay as I fortunately paid deposit on CC. No joy from Spa Serve just ignorance. All the best with your claims. Do not use Spa serve, trade Price Hot Tub etc

[09/07/2009] darren : have you recived you hot tub yet ????? as we are having same problems

think we have been caught hook line and sinker

any info would be great thanks

[29/07/2009] gordon : thanks for info was having a sales man visit today not anymore

[26/10/2009] Rachel: DO NOT BUY FROM THE TRADE PRICE GROUP!

We entered into an agreement with the Trade Price Group based in Rugeley, Staffordshire to buy a Spa (plus accessories) back in June 2009. We were told by one of the Partners, Stuart Cox, that the Spa was being manufactured in America but it would be delivered and installed within 12 weeks i.e. 3rd September 2009. We paid half of the total as a deposit and were asked for the balance at the end of June in order for the Spa to be shipped. We paid the balance promptly as requested and it was receipted in a letter from the Trade Price Group dated 7th July 2009.

On the 14th September 2009, 11 days after the anticipated delivery and installation date. Having no response to telephone messages, we visited their Distribution Centre at the Towers Business Park, Rugeley. We were told the Spa had not been shipped yet and was not scheduled to do so for a further 7 – 10 days. I would therefore question why we were asked to pay the amount in full more than 2 months previously? We were also told that shipping takes 21 days.

Furthermore we were extremely upset to find out that our Spa was not coming from America, as were led to believe from Stuart Cox, but was in fact coming from China. We felt that this was verbal misrepresentation at the time of selling. Had we have known that the components were from China and not America we would have not have placed the order as we understand that they are not of a comparable quality or safety standard.

We sought advice from Consumer Direct West Midlands who have advised us of the following. The Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 (as amended) states that work should be in a reasonable time.

We had received a letter on 5th August 2009 from the Trade Price Group confirming the Spa had been manufactured. We wrote making time of the essence, giving you 14 days to deliver and install the above Spa and accessories. They have failed to remedy within this time or within the further 14 days we gave them prior to taking legal action for breach of contract, requesting a full refund.

The company attempts to exclude notice being given for time for delivery being made of the essence (Clause 4.2 of their contract). However I am told by Consumer Advice and my legal representative that this is an unfair condition to impose.

This company is suspect at the very least. They appear to take orders (and payment), not deliver the goods then reply on their terms and conditions to at best only ever refund two thirds of peoples money. Something very off is going on! Do not trust them - buy elsewhere.

We have now submitted papers with the Court. Trading Standards are aware of this company and from what I understand are collating a case against them.

We are not disgruntled employees! The General Manager tried to tell us that the negative things written about this company had been posted by disgruntled employees. Check for yourself with Tamworth County Court what has been served on this company. Do not belive their spin!!

[16/11/2009] doreen: Think we have also been had by this mob. We had a visit in August from salesman Matthew, ex army who completely took us in by all what would be a wonderful experience buying a hot tub from The Trade Price Group. We paid £7490 by cheque and was promised it would be delivered in 6 - 8 weeks. Priority because we had paid up front. No contact with them since. We have been doing all the chasing up by phone. But to no avail. Just getting the run arround, telling us that they would be in contact when the shipping date would be finalised. The staff seem to be well rehearsed with their answers and are obviously quite used to people being abusive to them on the phone. I have since been in contact with Consumer Direct but I think we will have a long wait according to the horror stories i have read. I wish i had seen this website beforehand. Please do not touch this Company (if you could call it that) I am so angry and have shed a few tears over this. It's so frustrating that Companies like this continually rip people off and get away with it.

[19/02/2010] Mark Smith: I dont need to reiterate all the other posts. However, exactly the same issues of non-delivery!

- Dont believe the site survey - they will tell you anything to secure the sale. The surveyor is actually just a salesman!
- Likelyhood is you will not get your Hot tub - dont part with cash until the hot tub is delivered!!!!
- If you do pay before delivery, pay by credit card - you can claim cash back within 120 days if non-delivery.
- Get the 'What Spa' free magazine (google it) - it lists reputable suppliers.
- Contact British & Irish Spa & Hot Tub Association (BISHTA) - they can provide advice on thier members.

[23/02/2010] P. Sears: My son was coerced into ordering a Theatre Spa from the catalogue shown by the rep on the 18th August 2008. He was asked which colour he would like and was told that if he wanted a quick delivery he could make it a priority order which would be delivered within a three week period. However this would mean paying the full amount for the spa by cheque. My son was gullible enough to agree and the sum paid over was almost £10.000 pounds. He was asked to pay by cheque and did as requested. He was not told about the dubious contract details on the back of the order or the fact that if delivery was very late a cancellation could not be made or money refunded. This information was given when I complained on his behalf. We have made numerous calls and written to the company to no avail. the only information given is that shipping date has not been received. This company has previously traded under another name taking peoples deposits and then closed down and re-opened in the name of TradePrice Group. It would appear that they are running a scam and we are now aware that we never get his £10.000 pounds reimbursed. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY AND ITS NEW WEBSITE THAT IT IS NOW TRADING UNDER.

[24/02/2010] Teresa: I also had the unfortunate experience of buying a hot tub from these conmen!

1 year later I have taken them to small claims and the judge ordered them to pay every penny back and all my expenses! there is justice after all!

with my claim as evidence I printed every single complaint about this company out and sent in with my claim!

Please take this company to small claims and get your money back!!

if you do need any advice please contact me and i will be happy to help.

[28/04/2010] Charles and Paulette Hallam : Trade Price Group - This company is now being investigated by Staffordshire Police for Fraud.
Under investigation by Trading Standards and Consumer Direct Staffordshire who are compiling a dosier on their dispicable practices.

If you ever want to own a Spa and physically take ownership of it-
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY.!

[17/05/2010] Kristie: These lot are just a bunck of crooks!!! We have now taken legal action and compalined about them to trading standards!!

[17/05/2010] flotam: We paid over £9000 for a hottub in August 09 and despite trying to cancel, we are just ignored and are now going to court to get our money back. We ordered from TPG, also known as Trade Price group and spaserve. They are a bunch of crooks that are making millions out of innocent people, stealing our hard earned cash to fund their lifestyles.

[19/05/2010] KAYWAT: In the first instance when you realise you have been mislead you absolutely must call Consumer Direct on 0845 404 0506 & state THE TRADE PRICE GROUP

They are the first port of call for Trading Standards to be able to take any action whatsoever, just call Consumer Direct above even if you have bought from UKHOTTUBSFORSALE or SPASERVE or TRADE-PRICE-HOT-TUBS these are all the same company. It is essential you call if you want to support the Government Authorities to protect you as a consumer..SO CALL. 0845 404 0506

[08/06/2010] Spa Rage: I had such similar experiences it makes me want to scream. I spent £5500 in Summer 08. Spa delivered in Winter 08. More than 40 leaks, 2 broken thermostats, 1 broken main head pump, 1 broken jet and head, missing accessories, awaiting refund towards crane which was needed against their site survey. it has worked less than 30 days in 18 months and has been standing broekn for months. Numerous calls, emails, messages, lies and lies from them. Fortunately the £500 was on credit card so I am seeking respite through credit card company for this. Found some great letters and templates on the trading standards website. As part of my claim I had a spa expert come and write a report. Written report on its way and a copy to trading standards as well but the hot tub is lethal - electrics are dangerous, plumbing inadequate, no insulation, wrong wood used, no weatherproofing, CE trademark is being used illegally, made in China and not as stated US. It is a death trap and not legally allowed to go on the UK electrical network. Mor than £4k required to bring hot tub to bare minimum standards let alone make it nice to use - and that doesnt include missing accessories and refund thats due. Go to trading standards and use their templates and letters, go to your credit card company (mine has 4 other ongoing cases with the same company!!!) and keep making the noises. Good luck and hope you fair better than me so far but I have light at the end of the tunnel with my cc company.

[21/10/2010] adam brogan: I Like a lot of people, were taking in by stuart cox, paid £7290.00 cash he says id get up to £1000 of and 6 to 8 weeks delivery

[11/11/2010] Richard Long: Very bad news to all those owed money by SPASERVE/ TRADE PRICE GROUP. 2 of the directors have gone bankrupt. Namely Simon & Katie Foster, the details are on the public site of the Insolvency Service. This happened on 18 October 2010 but there is still no news on a receiver being appointed. there are also news reports that 5 owners of the business have been arrested for possible fraud, but nothing else yet. Can I advise anyone who is owed money to contact the ISO, Stoke On Trent office on 01782 664 100 to push for a receivers details. Good luck to you all.

[24/07/2009] liz oliver: The date of this entry should have read December 2008 not 2009. I can now advise that Lloyds Bank have in the absence of any communication from Trade Price Group/ Spaserve, refunded the full amount paid on my credit card. Since then I have been contacted by the Government Agency,Consumer Direct who have referred the Trade Price Group/Spaserve to Staffordshire Trading Standards for investigation into the company's trading practices and the terms of their contract. I have also been advised that Credit Card Companies are likely to withdraw the use of their facilities from Trade Price/SpaServe meaning that customers who then have to pay by cheque or direct debit, are at risk of losing their money.
If you have taken the trouble to check this company out and have found these comments, trust what we say about the Company and take your business elsewhere but do make sure that you are not dealing with the same people as it is not the first time the owners of this company have closed down and set up under a different name!

[24/07/2009] Liz Oliver: Hi Darren,
sorry to learn that you to have been caught out by this company too. My advice to you is to contact Consumer Direct as they were incredibly helpful. If you need to speak to me I am on Skype.

[27/10/2009] Steve V: I to was unfortunate to fall for the good lieing sales patter this company operates under. I had to wait 32 weeks for my hotub. A Manhatten and paid out £4250 for it. It finnally arrived in October. So far i am pleased with the product but unfortunately the TV stopped working 45 minutes after use. I have been promised a replacement so we shall see. it took a threat of court action (which is current still awaiting a hearing date) On a good point the company sent a cheque for £150.48 for my court costs and £98 for compensation. The company are currently under investifgation by Stafordshire Trading Standards. Time of essence was a term that they tried to get me on but thir terms and conditions do not mean diddly squat as you should claim under your consumer rights. Hope this is of help to the many dissapointed spaserve, trade price group orother companys they operate under.

Claim title: hot tub order

[25/10/2009] Tin Tin : Sorry to hear you ordered from this shower, I ordered mine in November 08 and like eveyone promised the earth and even when I persisted chasing well into 09 they promised everything but delivered nothing, they even wrote they would guarentee it was from the USA but if you go to the following web link you'll see where they actually come from(http://www.jnjspa.com/default.htm). Ive done a lot of reaserch since on The Trade Price Group aka Spa Serve aka HDI enterprises.

I eventually spoke to my credit card company who were all too aware of this outfit and snatched back the money after 7 months and gave them 45 days to appeal against it, suprisingly they didnt.

Also look at http://www.poolspaforum.com

Ive since purchased from a local supplier and when I was ordering my tub met another family one who'd been ripped off by this bunch of cowboys, they were still trying to get there money back.

The company Ive bought from then showed me a price list from where they get these tub from in China as they were approached to stock them but refused because they are death traps. the actual price is about £1500 to purchase from China.

I've since had a questionnaire from trading standards re this outfit listing all its various companies so hopefully this group will be shut down or made to sort out the mess.

I would recommend in the first instance if you paid by credit card contact your credit card company to try to get your money back. Good luck

[22/12/2009] Lynx: Stuart came to see me today in his black 09 Range Rover (top of the range - its a company car) Tried to sell me a 12,000 hottub for 4500 with free xmas pack of cover, parasol, steps, bar and radio. I smelt a rat when he said he was in Stirling Lines in Hereford, where the SAS are. Walter Mitty springs to mind. I stopped the order and payment the moment he walked out of the door, he gave me the name of his MD (Simon Foster) so a quick search on the internet led me to the various companies forementioned. Stuart said the Trade Company owned Spa Serve, who are a service company. Cowboys indeed.

I have just read all the various stories about Trade Price Group and unfortunately it would seem I too have been tricked into parting with my very hard earned cash!

It would seem reasonable to me to suggest for us to all to get together and dupe on of these salesman namely Stuart, Matthew or Simon (in fact these could all be the same guy) anyway dupe one if them to an address where we could all have our say and maybe push (or) bully for our monies back!!

[08/02/2010] GWS: I have read the comments about this company and there are enough disgruntled people to do something collectively. These people are laughing at all of this. Why does someone not message as many people as they can and arrange a venue to get one of these people along unexpectedly. Simplistically put make a sales appointment as we know these creatures never turn down the opportunity rip people off. There is a guy on one of the other forums who is going book a sales appointment and get one of the sales people along as we all know who it is going to be one of the same people who always turn up and what they will do then remains to be seen....watch this space.

[18/02/2010] angry!!!!: think we are going to do the same we are in hampshire so if anyone wants to get together to make an appointment then we can see what they have to say for them selves!!
