Claim title: laptop

[23/02/2009] Rachel: Hi

Personally i'd contact trading standards, but technically yes unless they can provide you with a working model even so they have provided you with faulty goods so yes you can ask for a refund, and honestly they should be the ones to get the laptop to your closest branch. You might have better luck with their HQ complaints department.

Claim title: Television Fault

[25/05/2009] Sally: Firstly, my television was 20 months old, not 8 months old, it was purchased in August 2007.
Secondly, I do not see how you can say this as justifiable, based on the facts that I had 40 months remaining on my warranty, and they now charge £6.99 minimum per month, for their warranty, which equates to £279.60 minimum, hence I will be out of pocket £104.60, due to their lack of care. How can that be fair?

[25/05/2009] SMALL CLAIMS - Currys - WWW.SMALLCLAIMS.UK.COM & CYTT ARE NOW WORKING TOGETHER ON CONSUMER COMPLAINTS :

Thank you for posting your complaint on CYTT. As part of our commitment to help individuals I have posted the following reply

SMALL CLAIMS says

99% of the complaints posted on here are justifiable. However we do take an active role and I have reviewed your posting.

I understand your concern with the warranty, but I've done some research on your situation as a whole and here is my summary:

You purchased a 50" Phillips Plasma (now 8 months old)
You received a refund of £1000.00 in vouchers
You received £175.00 refund for your warranty.
Therefore you have a total of £1175.00 to spend

Checking on Currys website:

They are advertising:
Panasonic 50" plasma TV
Mega deal
HD ready
Built-in digital TV tuner
15,000:1 contrast ratio
£749.99
monthly product support £6.99

If you do the sums, on a like for like basis, I don't see what all the fuss is about ..... AND .... you have a brand new Tv, with a mandatory 1 year manufacturers warranty !!!

I conclude Currys have been fair and reasonable with you. At CanYouTrustThem.Com, we undertake an unbiased postion, and in the rare event that a complaint is unjustified, we reserve the right to highlight this as our commitment to justice, ........ not just for the user, but also the company or person against whom the claim is lodged.

Claim title: Toshiba TV Model: 36ZP46P

[06/06/2009] SMALL CLAIMS - Currys - WWW.SMALLCLAIMS.UK.COM & CYTT ARE NOW WORKING TOGETHER ON CONSUMER COMPLAINTS :

..
Thank you for posting your complaint on CYTT. As part of our commitment to help individuals I have posted the following reply

SMALL CLAIMS says

          1) The quote from The Daily Mail "An article referred to that the retailer is responsible for    up to six years, for either repair or replacement" is wrong.

          2) The person or company you bought the item from is responsible while it is under warranty.

          3) The "6 Years" reference, means you have up to 6 years to pursue a claim.

          4) You may not know, but in the past a retailer would buy items from the manufacturer with the manufacturers' guarantee. Typically, in the electrical sector, because of todays technology, elctrical items are very reliable. So, the retailers buy these items without the manufacturers warranty .......... At a cheaper price !!!!

         5) And that is why you were "fobbed off", because Currys are responsible.

You should ask for a full refund, out of pocket expenese, and compensation.

Claim title: Do NOT buy from Currys

[18/05/2013] Debs: Currys update - Just had a phonecall from a Currys representative called Jon following my posting on their FB page. Matter is now resolved with a small amount of compensation but enough for me to be happy with, this was never about compensation but about acknowledgement. Jon was very apologetic about what had happened and it will be looked into it. So there are people working for Currys that value their customers. My advice would be for other dissatisfied customers to post on the Facebook page if they are having no satisfaction on the phones.
