I received a telephone call on my mobile from Mobiles for Free Limited, I thought the guy was from 02, he had my contract details etc, he advised they could upgrade me as my contract was near an end and offered me a good deal, he mentioned something about 3 but stated I could keep my own number etc.  He then said I would receive a confirmation call, 5 minutes later the confirmation call that i requested be at 6/30pm as i was driving and on my way home, the confirmation call came at 6/10pm, it was literally a one minute call and I did not get chance to speak apart from saying yes i had taken the intial call.

When the phone arrived it had a netword 3 sim, my 02 did not work, i then panicked because the call obviously was not from 02 and i had (stupidly) handed over my bank details.

I telephoned 02 to make sure, they stated they had not phoned me.  I telephoned 3 but they said i had to take it up with mobiles for Free Limited and could not cancel with them.

I rang Mobiles For Free and was advised to leave a contact number.

I was then telephoned the same day, the guy was obnoxious, rude and I actually felt threatened, he stated they would not cancel the contract until I had paid £15.00 this was not mentioned on the telephone, he stated it was in the terms and conditions, when i explained that i recieved the terms and conditions in the box along with the phone and that i believed the call had been misrepresented he told me that the call had been recorded the disconnection manager would listen to it and call me back within 48 hours but that i WOULD be paying them the £15.00.

[10/03/2009] Paula: Same thing happened to me - Albeit polite at the beginning they lied and told me the new sim card would work in my old phone (which I've used with Orange and Vodaphone sim cards)and I could keep my old number - Have to use the phone that came with the contract and lost my old number - when I called they had a 'don't give a toss' atittude. Can't wait to be out of contract with them and when they call me, as they will when the contracts nearing the end will tell them what I think.

[06/04/2009] christina: your story is identical 2 mine i am now waiting for the supposed call which is supposed to be within the next few hours! the guy that rang me as i also thought that he was from o2 never mentioned anything about the network 3 or the fact that sending me the phone out was going to cost me 2 pounds!! he told me that this phone was going to cover the last 6 months of my contract! think if they dont cancel im goin to see if i can go to my bank and see if i can block them from taking money out from my account!!

[25/07/2009] Chris: Hey guys. I'd be very interested to know how all your cases turned out. I've stupidly just agreed to a contract with these guys, i've tried to call them but the contact number they've given me doesn't work! I want to start the process of canceling this contract ASAP, does anyone have a guaranteed number that I can get through to someone on?!

[04/08/2009] Sean: I've just managed to dispatch a really rude and patronising sales operative from this company. He called from 01228 789958. My operator is investigating but managed to get through to them on that number. Their attitude when asked to stop calling was "well there's nothing you can do about it".

Sign yourself up to TPS http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/ would be my advice.

[21/08/2009] Hayz: Same people rang me.. Do I have a contract that needs cancelling or is this one big scam??? I've cancelled my bank accout so no money will be transferred, however if these ppl have set me up with one am I gonna be left with debt at the end! Recieved hndset and sim card but dont want to open as it says once it is the contract is binded!!!! Help!

[24/08/2009] Dorsetbaby: We had the same problem with them. They phoned my hubby on his mobile and promised that we could keep our numbers, that they would pay off our last 6 months we had on our contracts and that if the signal was no good we could just send them back. We have not used either phone. We just opened one and put in sim and can see that the signal is no good. My hubby tried phoning them from Wednesday last week and managed to get hold of them on Friday. They said they had to call him back with a unique numbe that we needed to send them back. Well they did not ring us back and after trying to call them with no luck. I called Consumer Direct on 08454040506. They were very helpful. So do call and get there help. After calling them I decided to give 3 a call on the off chance that they might just be able to help me. As the contract would be coming from them. So I called them and told them everything. Lucky had a lovely lady on the phone. I told her that mobiles4free are making there company look bad by misselling there contracts. She asked me where I had got it from and then while I was on the telephone called them. As she soon saw they do not like to answer there phones. Took about 15-20minutes for them to answer. When they did she let me talk to them and they told me to just package them up and send them by special delivery back to the address in Llanelli and that they would contact me to let me know that they had been cancelled once they arrive. The lady from 3 then asked to make sure this was on both contracts and he said yes and good for her she then asked for his name. I asked Chris for the unique number that I needed to send them back and he said there is no such thing. That they do not give one.
The act you need to quote to them is the Consumer protection (distance selling)regulations 2000/misrepresentaion.

[30/10/2009] Terry: Awful, nasty company, Network 3 no longer have any dealings with this company (surprise-surprise!), Mobiles4free tried conning me also, sent phone I never requested, signed me up with insurance with a third party I never requested and when I sent phone back they said they had never received it! Network 3 totally useless as well. Managed to get out of it in the end tho with the help of trading standards. Contacted Watchdog but alas didn't hear anything. Mobiles4free are cut-throat and underhand and NOT to be trusted. I'm making it my personal mission to try and shut this company down. They are making peoples lifes hell and they are still trading-disgrace!!
