Due to the recent credit crunch my wife and I are experiencing financial difficulties and we found Churchwood Financial Limited on the internet.  We rang them and they took our details and sent us out an application form which we completed and telephoned them when this had been done. They then advised us that a gentleman would call on Thursday evening and collect all the papework, which he did.  We were then told to pay the £550 and we would then be assigned our own financial advisor.  I paid the money by debit card on the 2 March 2009,  this was duly taken from my account.  Since the money has been paid we have heard nothing from Churchwood about our case.  We had phone calls from about six or seven different people who knew nothing about our account i.e who our advisor was.  I have given my mobile details three times but they never had it when I did speak to anyone.  The people we spoke to have said we haven't received your information or some have said yes but that nothing has been done.  We even had a call from one member of staff saying congratulations you have been accepted for a loan, which we have never even applied for.  I have tried to ring them on numerous occasions but I am put on hold and them cut off.  My wife both faxed and wrote to them on the 6 March stating that due to the poor service we wished to cancel the contract and have our money returned but we have never heard from anyone.  My wife has written two letters to their complaints department but yet again have received no reply.  This company is a total waste of space and I would advise anyone never to use them as they just take your money and they never contact you again afterwards.

[21/01/2010] cora: I had the same problems with churchwood ref return of fees. Contacted the debt resolution forum 01612445433 fantastic. Seemingly Churchwood is a member, they are now trying to get my money back. Have also written to ombudsman, this is a slower process, will let you know how I got on.

[22/02/2010] casey: I recently decided to see if i could get a loan for around 3000 pounds. This was to help consolidate a few small outstanding debts as well as help pay for some diving gear.I looked on the internet through several brokers such as ocean finance ect. I was finally contacted by CHURCH WOOD FINANCE who said they could help me. I was told i couldn't have a loan because of the amount of debt i have.I was passed on to an advisor who i was told could consolidate my debts. I was told that i would be better off having everything consolidated as i was too much of a risk aparently. I was interested but a bit unsure about having a consolidation loan. I didn't really want it as i was going to have pay back three times more than my than my biggest debt. This was after having the chance to go through me and my partners debts and joint income.I was basically pressured into something i didn't want to go through with.I kept getting told that you'll get into even more debt if i didn't go through with it. Which i knew wasn't true at all as i don't have creditors chasing me. I stupidly gave them my bank details just in case i was going to go through with the loan. I was told there would be a fee of 112.50 to pay for administration costs. I changed my mind before the cooling off period had subsided only to find the thieving bastards had taken my money.I had been sent a paying in slip to put into my bank account for the amount stated to be taken out of my account which i never signed. As well as forms for setting up the consolidation. Those were never signed either. But they still took my money which was all i had left in my account and they left me out of pocket. I am now in the process of getting my money back. DON'T EVER,EVER,EVER USE CHURCHWOOD FINANCE FOR LOANS OR ANYTHING ELSE!
