I transferred an amount of £231.00 for my friend to collect in Lagos, Nigeria. I was charged £11.90 for doing so. Western Union advised me that the money had been collected on 17/06/2012 but this was not by my friend and they refuse to confirm if it was he who collected it.The date in question is also a Sunday - Western Union agents in Lagos are in banks and the banks are not open there at weekends. Despite explaining this to them several times, they keep saying that the transaction has been completed. I asked what address the money was picked up from and they refused to give this. They have told me that I will need to contact the police who will have to contact them. I hardly think that the police in the UK will give such a relatively small financial transaction much attention. I don't know what to do now - this is a great deal of money to me and it was meant to help my friend to purchase a mobile phone. What can I do - will NEVER use this service again!!
