My claim started in October 2008. My home Insurance Norwich Union sent a workman to my home to remove plaster for two walls. This man advised me he did not usually do this type of work and I think he said he was ad that he was a roofer.


This workman used a power tool to drill off plaster with a kanga, no safety cloths, in dry conditions without safety machinery and with my children & I in the room. He did not recognise the presence of asbestos and hovered up (not using the required safety Hoover) most of the debris.


My insurance sent further workmen who are (confirmed by the company director) not licensed to work with asbestos. This workman placed a huge fan on the exposed asbestos fibres which propelled at force the fibres with enough force to cause chunks of debris to come off the wall, which was hovered up by my children or myself. They also used a dehumidifier alongside the fan to extract any moisture from the air thus ensuring an optimum environment for asbestos fibres to move about freely for over 328 hours over a period of two months.


 On Monday 6th April, another workman came to my property to finish taking off plaster and commence replastering, but on first sight spotted the visible asbestos  artex coating, and said (in front of my children) "I'm not touching that, that's asbestos." He then proceeded to phone his office who ordered him off-site within minutes stating "someone from the office would be in contact in a couple of days." He did not do ANYTHING required by law CAR2006 or HSE  - em1,2,&3 guidance on dealing with asbestos  nor have they informed HSE of this dangerous occurrence , leaving me and my children frantic with worry. I managed to find an asbestos removal company to come around that same day to take samples, which has unfortunately come back confirming the presence of asbestos.


To this date Wednesday 15th April 2009, I have not received one written word from Norwich union or Asprea concerning this matter. Despite the sympathetic declarations that they want to put my mind at ease and cause no further anxiety ( I look forward to the legal guarantee that my children & I will never suffer or die from any asbestos related condition!)  Even now, they want to spend as little as possible with regard to health screening and removal and replacement of soft furnishings (which research has shown can fibres). No testing can replicate the conditions inflicted upon us. This company has no morals. It's all about saving money. It is interesting that the decision to remove the need for a licence for certain asbestos works was as a result of a paper put before the Law Lords was financed by Home Insurers...

Long story but to cut things short......DON'T LISTEN TO OR TRUST WHAT AN AA AGENT ADVISES YOU WHEN TAKING OUT HOME INSURANCE!!!!


Now i've never had home insurance and personally i don't understand all the bit words and technical terms along with "part a" refers to "part b" rubbish purely coz im not that way minded and i do place my trust in the agent who advises me on a service i take out.  Same as my Virgin, Sky and Car Insurance and i have never had a problem until now. 


I took out Home Insurance with the AA back in April 09 and i was informed by the agent of all the cover i was entitled to and one of them was accidental cover as i questioned my TV, Laptop, PS3 etc.. being covered for accidental damage and i was assures that YES they are all covered.  So being happy with everything else i took out the policy.  However early August i've accidently broke my Laptop screen when it was shut and i have contacted the AA and i have been told that im not covered for Accidental Damage.  Now you can guess my reaction i was not happy and was not accepting that as an answer..After speaking to a manager and explaining that the agent told me that on the phone and that all calls are recorded that i wanted the tape pulled to be listened to and they advised they would do that and get back to me in a couple of days.  3 days later and no call so i contacted them and was told upto 2 weeks, requested a manager and told a week.  In all of this i was getting very annoyed until 1 chap was helpful and got something done.  So this carried on until around the 25th August when they told me they could not find the tape due to having new recording systems fitted and the same time of my call, coinsidence or was it that they heard the tape and new that i was right but did not want to admit it!  Besides that after being told they could not find it, they told me that the accidental cover has now been added to my policy (at no extra charge) for the rest of the contract and that he would pass my claim through to the claims department to process.  All seem to be well.  Unfortunately Thursday 10th September this guy phoned me and advised that the claims department refused to carry out the claim due to the cover not being on it when i claimed originally.  I was not happy and argued the fact that why give me the cover and pass my claim through if it was my fault.  Surely if the AA was not in the wrong they would never have give me the cover if it was my fault??? So now im stuck with a broken laptop, home insurance that IS NO USE!!! so what am i to do now, i really don;t know!! But word to the wise if you trust the people and are not the sort of person who understands all the big words and contract stuff, then DO NOT USE AA HOME INSURANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi everyone


axa are rip off i mean what is a large company like axa refusing to pay out on a geniune claim like this for they are seriously loosing the plot.


i made a claim for a vandalism incident that happend to my rental car and i was cover for the excess through THE AXA INSURANCE GROUP for this incident which occured at some time on the 10112008 reported to the rental company and police at the time this claim was worth £600 in which no accustation have been made nor have their been any dispute with the rental company about this claim yet axa refuse to pay for this £600 claim citing the car was used against the terms and conditions of the rental agreement (when actually the car was parked overnight and no one was actually driving the car so how could it have possibly been used against terms and conditions). its disgraceful i took this policy out with questor insurance services and was underwritten by axa insurance.

then the rental company accused me of allowing the car to be used in a separate incident of being involved in a incident which the police have not charged me for nor am i familiar with nor has any third party made a claim against me for and the rental company took another £600 from my virgin credit card which was supposed to be blocked due to the fact that it was reported to the company as lost stolen so it should have never been able to be processed none th eless it was and enterprise took a additional £600 which i added to my claima nd was refused again accusation made was that it was used by a third party on thus axa terms were broken again i have no clue as to why they wont pay as the police dont seem to have charged me and there has never been any proof or evidance sent or given to me nor have the axa group or the police as well as enterprise put any evidance to me apart from a pre accident report which just shows the damaghe that was caused by the vandalism on the date i reported it.


any one got any advise, i really dont want to go through a civil court which i have been advised to do so if you haveany advise  let me no as £1200 is alot of money and i wil be recovering interest which was £40 per month so its adding up daily

 WHILST WORKING AT WYMOTT PRISON AND THE PCT CLINIC I WAS ACTUALLY EMPLOYED BY ALPHA HOMECARE AGENCY. I HAD BEEN WORKING FOR ALPHA SINCE JUNE 2008, THEIR ADDRESS BEING:- 97 HEATON STREET, STANDISH, WIGAN, WN6 0DA.


 HAVING PAID FOR LEGAL AND GENERALS SERVICES FOR 7 YEARS IN TOTAL, MY MONTHLY PREMIUM BEING £47 APPROX i GOT IN TOUCH REGARDING THE 5 WEEKS WHICH ELAPSED BETWEEN 17/2/2009 AND THE START OF MY CURRENT JOB WHICH BEGAN ON 23/3/2009. I WAS ACTUALLY ONLY UNEMPLOYED FOR 5 WEEKS BUT L & G HAVE BEEN VERY DIFFICULT.


MY CLAIM NUMBER IS (2405692NR1). I HAVE RETURNED ALL THE RELEVANT CORRESPONDENCE AND DETAILS OF THE JOBSEEKERS ALLOWANCE I RECEIVED AND THEY NOW TELL ME THAT THEY WILL NEED TO CONTACT MY PREVIOUS EMPLOYER BEFORE ALPHA.


THEY DON'T RETURN MY CALLS WHEN I CONTACT THEM ON THE CLAIM (THEIR CONTACT NO BEING:- 0870 725 9917). IT'S COSTING ME TO CALL THEM, SEVERAL TIMES THEY HAVE PROMISED TO CALL BACK WITHIN 24 HOURS AND HAVE NOT DONE SO.


I SHOULD BE DUE TO 5 WEEKS MORTGAE PAYMENTS AMMOUNTING TO APPROXIMATELY £520. IT'S NOT ALOT OF MONEY IN THE SCHEME OF THINGS IS IT. PLEASE HELP ME RESOLVE THIS MATTER BECAUSE THAT ONE MONTHS MORTGAGE HAS PUT ME IN ARREARS.

In March 2006, we took out a new fire insurance policy through a broker called Landau Manson & Partners Ltd.
On Saturday 15th July 2006, there was a fire in the kitchen, causing considerable damage to the hotel. A claim was made to our insurers who were Axa. After six months, they decided to null and void our insurance policy because we had not complied with their warranties regarding a deep fat fryer in the kitchen, which was deemed to be the cause of the fire.
My Wife and I had never seen these warranties and they had never been the subject of any previous fire policies with other insurers. The first time we saw them was a week after the fire.They had apparently sent a letter to the hotel,two months after inception, which was run under management by our Son. No mention had been made of these conditions on policy inception, although the hotel had been inspected before signing up, and again two months later. The only things to come to light following this inspection was that our safe would only be insured to carry up to £3,000 and that it would ncost extra for a sunbed. The inspector did not ask about appliance servicing, etc.
We would like to empahsize that these warranties were never mentioned before taking out the policy and never formed a part of agreement to take out the policy.
We were directed to various solicitors by a claims consultant, who reckoned that it would cost £150,000 to take Axa or its broker to court. And that they could not be sued jointly.
As we are informed that we have only until the sixth anniversary of the event to make a claim, this is the last chance of getting some money back.

We noticed a dent in the kitchen floor in February and when this spread we asked a trusted builder friend to investigate. He discovered that large areas of the kitchen floor were rotting away and we rang Norwich Union immediately and were assured that we were covered for an escape of water. Initial contact was affable.


However after investigating the floor, Norwich Union asserts that the escape of water is "historic" and did not occur during the three years we lived in the house. There is absolutely no evidence to support this, but they are digging in their heels and saying it is not covered. We are quite naturally devastated at the thought of having to face a massive building cost to rip up and replace the floor, and will have to take out a loan to pay.


We are both living on retirement income, we both have disabilities, and the stress is making us both feel very ill.

A third party hit my car, she left the scene of the accident without reporting it, she later gave herself in and police held her insurance details from me but gave me numbers for my insurance to call, incident number and said they would disclose info to my insurance IF THEY CALLED THEM. My insurance failed to call them and 1 month later after numerous phonecalls made by me to my insurance  they sent a letter to the third party insurance and told me i'd have to wait a further 3 weeks to get an answer off them....EVEN THOUGH I GAVE THEM THE NUMBER TO RING!!!!. They told me i could get my car fixed in the mean time but I WOULD HAVE TO PAY excess until liability was resolved. The police have a signed statement saying that she admitted running into my car, but my insurance still havnt rang them or any of the witnesses that THEY asked me to supply ASAP.  Norwich Union or  soon to be AVIVA are handelled by over seas telephone opperators, that read off cards and are not trained to use common sense, so if you do read this you are probabley better off paying a few more pounds to have a local insurance that are willing to handle your case with upmost importance instead of being just a voice on the end of a translantic call. Each representative gave me the same story of "IVE PASSED IT OVER TO MY COLLEGUE TO CHASE IT UP FOR YOU"........6 times now. So people of this world.....Think before you try save yourself a few pounds....IT AINT WORTH IT!!!!.

Hi took out life insurance via tel with broker called click. Told the truth with regard to myself and my wife health condition.Legal and General sent the policy and we paid the direct debit each month, till recently a financial adviser looked at our policy and there were discrepancies on information that I told click and what was on the disclosure forms. I sent in a complaint to Legal and General but they said it was clicks responsibility to refund our premiums paid. I believe that click is no longer trading, as Legal General has had numerous complaints from customers regarding the same. Legal and General told us that it was up to us to send the disclosure forms signed back to them. However we still have them and it says on them if not returned within 14 days the policy would be cancelled. They should have done that 5 years ago but they took our premiums and my wife would have not been covered if something had happened with regard to health issues not disclosed by Click.Legal and General new about Clicks unethical ways to sign up customers that's why they stopped taking up customers through Click. They should refund our Premiums at least, after they were aware of my wife true medical history they still continued to take the monthly premium until I cancelled it. Thanks Mr Gwyn and Janine Evans

They have both been convicted for the offence of


Him (the son) for theft


Her for handling stolen goods


neither of them had lawfull authority to enter the safe or aquire the items. the insurence company will not help in the recovery of the items still in the pawnshop.

26th jan equity red star phoned told to get builder to do patch job.


28th jan managed to get one only able to put some plastic up, urgently needed doing properly


29th lanes survoyer failed to turn up


few days later city link builders phoned to tell me one was coming fri 6th feb. didnt know about the one who didnt show


feb 6 surevor came raining while there he saw water coming in ceiling, took photos etc.


sun feb 8th 30 hours continuous rain and gales


a few days later city link builders sending some one else to look at it mon 16th feb. didnt arrive


more phone calls from them someone coming mon 19th feb. didnt arrive.


next its thurs 19th feb. they were to go over the garden from next door with their laders. the man next door told me they said they didnt need to and he saw them looking up the back of house at window. he knew the leak wasnt that part of the proberty they told him they had come from bristol.


about half hour after he told me this. phone call from city link builders to say they couldnt get in, told them they had been and seen all they needed to. they couldnt understand and were to phone back. next a man phoned to say they didnt work for city link builders but had been asked to come and look.


arranged for tuesday 24 they came and looked well past retirement age. they came over the wall and managed to dislodge my neighbours fence


mail arrived from lanes assistance dated 4th march, tell me claim rejected as it was not one off storm damage, which obviously they allowed around storms and gales for a further 6 weeks before they got these 2 rather elderly men to get up there , awful amount of this in the area which can be confirmed by any weather search, records are kept. plus they said the roof was coming to end of life. a tiled roof is good for between 50 and 70 years. this may be 20.


them man who did the patch job told me it was where wind had m9oved tiles, and they had slipped, leaving hole. alsio the builder who has done the job said the same.


i had already informed equity red star about the 28th jan i would be holding them completely responible for any further damage to my property. they allowed weeks of bad weather and incompetence from their builders to cause further damage.


this job should have been done and completely once i had notified i should have been able, like others in area get a builder to do it. not all this rubbish from equity red star, and their assistance.


i reported it to age concern in my area, their insurance person said if the insurance had been bought through them i would have been told to get someone to do it, and gave me ddetails of how to claim etc.


i asked lanes for copy of their builders report, was told it should come from equity red star, as usual they did not reply.


somewhere along the line some one was trying to make a big job of what started off, before the neglet of their builders would have been a reasonable priced small job.


i wasted money insureing insure 4 retirement


wasted on getting patch job.


and have had to pay out for the neglet of this to be put right.

Checked the policy covered my electrician son's tools stored in the garage before january, which they said they were upto the value of £7500.


Today we made a claim as our garage was broken into last night.
They say our policy doesnt cover items used in a business, but if they had said this months ago i could have taken out the extra cover for just £30!

My water heater burst early morning spilling water all over the basement area and into garage.  Water pipe was turned off and I went on the internet and fill out a name and telephone number on the MetLife site to have someone contact me because of the early hour.  Hours later, with no response I called again and got a live person to report my problem.  I have been a paying customer with MetLife for over 15 years for my house and car insurance.  Never mssing a payment. 


My information was taken and the gentlemen told me that a claims adjustor would be at my home within 2 days.  Then a company called me concerning the water damage.  They told me that a check for $500.00 would be collected at the time they showed up at my home.  I told them that the claim adjustor would be at my home by the next day to fit the 2 day window promised.  On the second day, met life called and a lady screamed at me saying that I was lied to and that the claim adjustor would NOT in fact show up for many days.  She wanted me to know that she was sending me a letter stating that Met Life was not responsible for any mold that would be growing in my home.  I told her that I wanted the claim adjustor to show up immediately.  Again, she told me that the claim adjustor would not be showing up any time soon. 


How can an insurance company who does not have a claim adjustor come to assest the damage of your claim expect to do business with their clients.  Why does an insurance company who has a loyal customer for over 15 years hire personnel who intimidate and scream at their customers?  IN MY OPINION, Met Life does not want to handle claims in an honest expediate manner.  They just want to take your money and pretend to give you good honest coverage.  Getting a claim adjustor should not be a hard thing to have come to your home for home owners who are insured with your company.


RUN do not WALK and change your insurance if you have Met Life!  In these hard times, another stress is NOT what you need.  Put your hard earned money with an insurance company that has available people to come and help with claims..By the way, my mother had the same problem last year..she has Hartford Insurance..they had an adjustor at her home the SAME DAY of her complaint!

Don't touch this company. I took out home insurance mid August They sent no confirmation that I had taken a policy out with them so presuming it had not gone through I took out one with another company,I then got a confiemation the day the policy was due to start, 5th October . I immediatly called them to cancel butthey slapped a massive cancellation fee on me for a policy I did not know existedand which in any case I cancelled the same day as it was taken out It's a scam. I wrote a letter of complaint but they have not even responded and continued to take the money. Beware of these thieves, also it is almoat impossible to speak to anyone and when you do they just pss you around from one person to the next. I asked to speak to a manager, they kept me waiting for 30mins before the same advisor came back to me and said to put it in writing. Terrible experience throughout.
