refund »25.09.0930/09/20094

I bought a balloon flight from Cameron Balloon Flights in March 2009 as a 77th birthday present for my mother.  She tried on three occasions over the next four months to book a flight, only to be told each time that 'it was too early'.  she finally secured a booking in late June, but her flight was cancelled three times due to the weather - but the last time there was only a light mist, followed by a beautiful day.  finally she was given a flight date of 25.09.09.  she and my father made two trial runs in the car to the launch site in Enfield to make sure she knew where to go to.  then the night before, ringing the recorded message line to check the flight was going ahead, a garbled message told her that the launch would take place 'from the Leisure Centre in Chipping Ongar'.  Although the company's conditions state that the flight might take off within a 30 mile radius, no mention was ever made of alternative launch sites, on booking or on their website.  I would never have booked a flight from a site so far away from their home (an hour's drive instead of 30 minutes).  my mother was unable to get to this new launch site due to other commitments later in the day (a funeral at 12.00pm).  the recorded message left no contact number and she was unable to reach the office.  the followng morning the woman in the office was rude and dismissive, saying that if Mum had been held up in traffic she would have been entitled to a rebooking, but 'it wasn't was it, you just didn;t show up'.  this experience left my mother in tears.  the woman was just as unhelpful when i phoned to complain.  I am left doubting if this company is a genuine one, as there have been so many excuses for not flying.

REFUND »Sept 200902/09/20093

We bought balloon flight vouchers last year for a special occassion but little did we know that

a) flights will rarely be scheduled from our area during the time we want.

b) no matter what a 100% refund will never be given. Maximum 75% refund for 9 attempts

We never got a chance to get on a flight last year so we had to upgrade to give us better chances of flying this year, Once again, it is almost the end of the balloon flying season and we have not managed to get on a flight. We  asked for a 75% refund as stated in their terms but were told that the refund would only be on the 75% of the original price i.e. no matter how much you spend upgrading they will not take take that amount into consideration.

Also, if you upgrade "since it wont amount to a new purchase" you will have to pay full price even if they are currently on offer on their website.

Having tried to fly with cameron flights and fighting for a refund, there really doesnt seem to be an incentive for them to fly at all since they can keep making money without flying.

Contradictory T&C's »11 June 201023/06/20101
I bought a balloon flight to take with my husband who had been given a flight as a gift. After 3 previous cancellations by Cameron Flights "due to weather", I made a fourth booking for a flight, a month in advance for early June 2010.

In an unrelated turn of events, on the day of the flight, I took a pregnancy test, which I happily discovered was positive. In accorance with the advice on the Cameron Flights website, I realised I would be unable to go ahead with the flight due to the pregnancy.

This is where it started to go very wrong. Cameron Flights insisted that I needed to provide 36 hours notice to cancel or ammend the flight which was impossible in this situation.
I have a dated and timed receipt for the purchase of a pregnancy test bought that lunch time which proves how long I had known. I pointed this out as soon as i discovered the news, several hours before the flight, but they were uncompromising.

The problem is, their own terms and conditions are contradictory, one clause says I need to provide "36 hours notice" to change the flight, the other says if you discover you are pregnant, you need to tell them "within 4 months of finding you are pregnant". I told them within half an hour of discovering I was pregnant!

However, it was the telephone calls with Cameron flights that upset me the most. They told me that if i did not find someone to take my place, then I would ruin the flight for all the other passengers (something to do with the weight distribution in the balloon). With this (emotional blackmail) on my mind, my husband found a friend of a friend to take my place so that the flight could go ahead. I found the staff at Cameron Flights rude and dismissive. The entire concept of customer service was completely lost on them.

In order to attempt to explain my position, I had to disclose information about my health that I had not yet shared with family. The attitude of Cameron Flights was very uncompassionate and extremely distressing.

In summary, I note three things:
Firstly, that the terms and conditions of their flights have mysteriously disappeared from their website, (I assume because I pointed out the contradiction inherent in clauses 10.3, 10.6 and 6.1 - 6.3 in my original complaint email to them).
Secondly that complaints about this company are increasing. I have no doubt I will receive the same cut and paste reply that others have, but am glad to have this forum to expose the underhand practices and poor customer services that Cameron Flights use as a basis for their business.
Thirdly, if you find cause for complaint, expect to be fobbed off and dismissed. No claim appears to be entertained - and my husband had suspected many months ago what another poster has picked up on. Cameron Flights have no incentive to actually fly, as they do not pay the pilots for an aborted flight and if you exceed your attempts (or most likely get frustrated or a poor experience) there appears to be no accountability.

By all means, if you can predict the future, go ahead and use this company. If like most of us you don't have a crystal ball, I would strongly recommend you don't use this organisation, who as another complainant has commented, will do anything to take your money and give you excuses for not flying.

balloon flight »29 July 201029/07/20101
I bought the flight for my wifes birthday present. We tried on many occasions to book the flight, but had to wait ages, then it was cancelled for weather reasons on several occasions.
Today was the 5th date, we were told to telephone a weather information line at 2.30pm (for a 6.30pm evening flight).
The message told us that the flight would once more not happen, but we had been booked onto an alternative flight leaving Alton, Hampshire at the same time.
My wife 'phoned the company to explain that we live in Hastings - virtually on the Kent border & it would have taken 2 hours to drive to the original take-off point at Midhurst. It would take much longer to get to Alton & find the take-off point & this move seemed unreasonable, could we re-book for the Midhurst site - and was told in a very curt fashion that she took the flight or lost the money as she had been 'booked in' at Alton! How? the decision to cancel must have happened at around 2.30 - that is when the information is available to customers. We were not given the opportunity to book or otherwise - it was a 'fait accompli'
This whole process is grossly unfair, took no account of our circumstances & I now see from this site that others have been treated in the same way. If I had read the information ahead of the purchase I'd certainly have avoided this company! May other prospective purchasers be warned - and avoid them like the plague.

My partner hired a van from Leaseplan on a contract for 4 years. After the 2nd year they lost a payment in cash for £500 that he paid into their account. It took them 3 months of bullying phone calls to my partner for the late payments before they found it!He refused to pay more until they looked for it and admitted receipt which they eventually did.

Then three months before the end of the 4 year lease the standing order payment at Xmas 2010 did not go through. He was not informed.Although a phone call to inform him the van would be repossessed by Leaseplan the very next morning was taken at 4.30 pm.He was still at work as this van was used for plastering by the self employed man.

After offering not only to pay the missed payment but also the other final 3 immediately all requests were refused even though his livelihood depended on it!.
Now we are awaiting the auctioning of the van off and to pay the difference which may be a sum we have no defense against!

I think this company are unfair and are using dirty tricks to bump up the severance of their contract..one that was almost up. My partner had not had any other late payments in last 2 half years previous to this tactic. It seems unjust that they would not accept an instant bacs payment for the whole sum let alone the single late payment.
They were a difficult bullying company to deal with especially when they were at fault for the missing £500.

I would not recommend them.

Steer well clear of LEASEPLAN

Refund »25/10/201124/10/20110
[24/10/2011] Sharon Tucker: I absolutely agree with everything that has been commented on on this site. I am sick of the frustration I have to endure with each cancellation knowing that the next booking will be cancelled again despite beautiful weather. 6 times over 18 months 5 of which in may, june. august, heatwave week october and today Oct 24th 2011.
I believe this set up to be daylight robbery. I have checked weather forecasts including wind speeds yet still get cancelled. I too have lost money on wages for time off and annual leave days wasted as have the other three people booked for. I have been told that I can at most claim a twenty percent refund as I did not book within three months after cancellation 1. How was I supposed to get four working people together again in their indictated window of opportunity as no flights occur in the winter months anyway.
The sheer enormity of numbers of people waiting must be phenomenal with each cancellation and yet they clearly must keep taking bookings and don’t fly for at least four months of the year. No wonder they say they cannot fly so often. I do believe that they just wait for people to crack and give in in despair andacceptance.
This company has robbed me of £360 and outlaid precisely 60 pence on six text messages. Yes I agree that they have a great scam going on. How does one find out that they are lying about take off conditions?
I am disgusted with the whole affair. Any pleasure in the original purchase has long long gone to be replaced with anger and frustration. I have no choice but to keep on booking if I want a return on my money or write off this sum of money has history. I would rather have given it to a stranger in the street than be ripped off so openly. I WILL NEVER EVER RECOMMEND A HOT AIR BALLOON FLIGHT TO ANYONE VIA THIS OR ANY COMPANY AND INTEND TO MAKE SURE THAT PEOPLE REALISE WHAT THEY ARE LETTING THEMSELVES IN FOR.

Refund »25 August 201025/08/20100
I bought a voucher back in September 2006 for 2 of use to take a balloon ride with Cameron. We were offered a flight date the following summer, but this was cancelled due to the weather. Since then we have never been offered another flight date, even though it states under their General Terms & Conditions in the 'Our Obligations To You' section: In the event of a flight being cancelled due to adverse weather conditions or for any other reason alternative dates will be offered as quickly as possible.

I have contacted them on numerous occasions to try and get a refund, which has always been declined, but have been told I would be put to the top of the stand-by list. Again, I have never once been contacted or offered an alternative date.

I spoke with a lawyer today and sent him the terms and conditions, he agreed that they should refund me the money as alternative dates were never offered to me.

I rang Cameron flights today and asked to speak with a manager. Again I explained that I wanted a refund as I was never offered an alternative flight date. He told me that it was up to me to contact them to arrange a new flight date. I told him that in the T&C's it never mentions that I need to ring for another date and also that each time i spoke with anybody within Cameron I was told that they would contact me when another date became available. He told me I would not be getting a refund.

On the advice of my lawyer, I will now send the company a letter requesting a refund and if I have not had one within 7 days, I will take legal action.

My advise to anybody thinking of booking a hot air balloon ride, please steer well clear of Cameron Flights, they take your money without providing the service

Refund Required »11/8/1111/08/20110
I purchased a voucher for me and my partner in November 2009 as a christmas present for him after listening to him going on for months how he would love to go on a balloon flight.

We made our first attempt at flying in june/july 2010 which was cancelled due to weather conditions. we was understanding of this on the first occassion as these things happen. However our second flight also got cancelled. my partner is self employed and due to these being AM flights we had to take the days off meaning he had already lost 2 days wages. our voucher was extended free of charge until june 2011 which we was greatful for and still held hope in the company. We decided to pay the £40 to upgrade our voucher to a pm flight so we would not have to loose anymore time off work. On our 3rd attempt was given the go ahead by the flight line only to be cancelled after we had treked the 30 odd miles from home to site. We arrived went through the safety briefing and setting up the balloon, to the be told there was not enough wind for us to go. (even though 3 balloons around us were taking off!) We had now lost all faith in the company believing deeply that it was just a scam.

I contacted the customer services to request a refund and was rudely told i was not entitled to one due to the fact we had not made enough attempts to fly and we would have to book again as layed out in their T+C's. (Please notethat the T+C's only offer back 75% as the most they will refund) I calmly tried to explain how they cannot refuse a refund when they are not providing the service they offer and we paid for. however as ive seen other people stating their customer service is abysmal and i got no where. I rebooked again to be cancelled recieved another extension to Oct 11.

Today was the final straw i was booked to fly this afternoon and again was cancelled i went directly to their site to rebook and most days are showing as 'no flights' and those flights which are going locally are AM (we loose more money on days off) or are 70+miles away.

I have rebooked for 6th spet (next available chance) and am holding out no luck!

in summery after spending £170 on a flight 2 years ago
spending £40.00 upgrade
loosing 2 days pay for my partner £300
and loosing 4days annual leave from work for myself i have come to the end of a very very frayed teather and now if my next flight does not go i want my money back and nothing else. AND I WANT ALL OF IT.

I TOOK A VAN THROUGH NETWORK WHICH IS A DIVISION OF LEASEPLAN. I HAVE FOUND THEM TO BE THE MOST DISHONEST, UMPROFESSIONAL COMPANY I HAVE EVER DELT WITH.
I WAS SOLD MY VAN LEASE AS BEING A TRANSFERRABLE LEASE, WHEN THE TIME CAME TO SELL MY BUSINESS TO ANOTHER BUYER, LEASEPLAN DID EVERYTHING THEY COULD TO BLOCK THE TRANSFER. THEY FABRICATED REASONS AS TO WHY THEY COULD NOT TRANSFER/TOLD ME THE TRANSFER PROCESS WOULD TAKE 2 MONTHS. IN THE END I HAD TO THREATEN THEM WITH MIS-SALE OF LEASE BEFORE THEY AGREED TO TRANSFER MY LEASE. EVEN THEN IT TOOK 2 MONTHS WHEN THEY CAN SORT A NEW VAN FOR DELIVERY IN 2 WEEKS THIS WENT ON FOR 7 MONTHS AND COST ME 4 BUYERS AND £100s.
ON TOP OF THIS THEY ARE NOW REFUSING TO REFUND ME WITH THE £550 ADVANCED RENTAL I PAID UPON TAKING OUT THE LEASE.
AGREE WITH THE ABOVE POSTER, STEER CLEAR OF NETWORK AND LEASEPLAN THERE ARE MANY OTHER HONEST/CUSTOMER FOCUSED LEASE COMPANIES OUT THERE!!!!!!!!!

Repossession of car »24th December201203/01/20130
I took out finance with Leaseplan in October 2012. Unfortunately due to a costly divorce and the recession my business became bankrupt. I received a letter from leaseplan asking me to pay them compensation as I was in breach of their terms and conditions as I was bankrupt. I was happy to do this, I understood their concern. They then told me they were repossessing the car aswell, even though I was still paying my monthly finance on time every month. I was not in arrears and I offered to pay them several more months in advance to put them at ease. They were extremely unhelpful to deal with, completely unflexible even when I put forward a guarantor. I told them I was a single parent now living in a very rural area and a young daughter to get to school several miles away. This made no difference. When I asked to have the name of the most senior person in the company they wouldn't give it. They also still took my monthly payment for the car even when they were aware I was bankrupt. I had paid up the the 19th of the following month and pleaded with them to let me keep the car u til then so I could find another car to get my daughter to school. My request fell on def ears, the car was taken the following day. My advice to anyone would be NEVER DEAL WITH LEASEPLAN. They are bullies, unsympathetic and deliberately difficult.

non refund of train ticket »july 201229/09/20120
Issue with SBB (Swiss Railway Company).
In July I bought a ticket online with SBB for 23 fr.Ch at a discount price, Milan Zurich. I was unable to print the ticket online because the Italian Railway does not accept E-ticket.
The only possibility they had is to send it by priority post to Cyprus where I was living.
I gave my address and phone number to put on envelope just in case.
After 8 business days, I still had not the ticket so went to post office. Then went again to the post office
Again and again and still did not get any letter in spite of effort of the post office employee to call the central office and also the postman.
I contacted again SBB and was told to buy again a new ticket once again when I will be in Italy obviously at full price and to keep the ticket. This is the only info I got.
So once in Milan I bought full price ticket 67 euros and travelled at exactly the same time, which is 7.00 am Saturday morning.
Once in Zurich I contacted again via email the same agent I was in contact with in Cyprus to ask
him how to deal with refund of ticket. To my surprise he replied he has to send the
documents to Cyprus to make sure they have the correct address. I had to explain I have left Cyprus
for good. Then they received back the ticket from Cyprus with justification: wrong code.
He said it was sufficient enough not to refund the ticket.
I was furious. I requested to escalate the matter because he did not explain at all the conditions to be refunded just before my departure from Cyprus. Then the supervisor answered and confirmed very drily the file is closed on their side.
After that I replied this is not honest en professional to act like that. There is no transparency in the way they communicate with customer. I know that very well as I worked in customer service so many years.
Supervisor never replied to my comments probably because my argument were so true he did not
Know what to answer.
I received the mail I was supposed to get in Cyprus but without envelope. Supervisor admitted they had not put the phone number I gave them at the start, which would have been very useful.
I sent a last email repeating the lack of transparency to which supervisor never answered.
I would have thought the Swiss Rail company was a lot more serious than that. I know now that I cannot even trust a Swiss company.
As a result I became the victim in this matter having to pay twice for train ticket, one of them full price and also all the energy and time spent on this issue.

I booked my car at Peter Vardy seafield edinburgh for a recall regarding (abs fault) and MOT last 04/10/2012. I just got the phone call informing me that my car failed in MOT because there is a leak somewhere in the stirring. And they said i cost around £1900 plus. I am quite shocked with the amount of that part. Luckyly i got extended warranty. To cut it short, i never been offered a courtesy Car which i need all the time because i got two small kids because aparently they don't have one available. They never phoned me. I am the one always phoning to find out if they got car for me to use while my car is still there. I just don't understand why they are saying that extended warranty didn't authorized a hire car for me. I know it say on my aggrement that if my car is away for about 24 hours then i am entitled to have one.I acquire my Vauxhall Antara last 31 October 2011 and i only had it for around 11 months. This is the second time I'm using this company and the last time. The first time was couple years ago my mother was going home for 2 mths and she shipped a barrel with food 3 weeks before she left. She never received her barrel until a month & a half within her trip she had to end up going to the grocery to buy food which she was avoiding. The 2nd time was problems again. We had items stolen from our barrels, so many that I would not have believed it if I was not in Trinidad when they arrived, they stole everything from underwear to food, my mother was in tears. when I called to complain I was just given the run around. I wish there was a way I could have rated this so-called attempt of a company much lower than one star.
