Fabric Order »6 February 200902/03/20091

I placed an order for fabric to the above value & payed with my debit card. After 2 weeks having not received the order I rang the company, first I was told it had been despached, when it did not arrive I phoned again & was told it would arrive within the next couple of days. The goods have not arrived, the money has been taken from my account & my numerous attempts to contact the company have failed, either the phone is on answerphone & my calls are not returned or the phone has a message saying there is no-one available to take the call.

Refund for Inferior/faulty Sofa »March12/05/20091

I purchased corner sofa from ScS in Blackburn Lancs. The sample sofa I tested in the shop was ideal for my needs i.e. firm seating. The sofa was delivered in March 09 & to my dismay I found that the corner bit was really saggy and uncomfortable. I informed customer services the following day who sent out an upholsterer who agreed with me & said that this was dwon to the design i.e. half is sprung base & the other is a webbed base. I received letter from ScS saying that there was nothing wrong with it & that was all they would do. i then sent another letter on consumer directs advice as I had since been back to showroom & the sample sofa did not correspond in quality to mine. I received another letter from ScS stating that the problems"are not manufacturing faults & are down to the way the goods are being used" !!! Consumer direct then contacted trading standards on my behalf & a representative from trading standards examined the sofa in my home & agreed with my judgement of the quality. She contacted head office who said that there was nothing wrong with it. The trading standards employee requested that ScS pay half towards the cost of an indepenadant upholsterer's report but they refused to even do this!! I know have to pay the cost of the independant upholsterer's report myself or accept a sofa only half of which can be used.

Failure to deliver goods »November 200821/04/20090

I ordered £617.40 worth of fabric on 30th October 2008, my order comprised two different makes of fabric and I paid via credit card. One part of the order was delivered but the second has failed to appear. After many unanswered phone calls I finally got a response via email and told that the manufacturer had run out of stock and that my order would be fulfilled, albeit with a delay once stock was replenished. Because the first part of my order had been delivered I believed them, but the fabric has failed to appear and several requests via email for a refund of the £245.00 owing to me have been ignored. Interestingly, the company has recently revamped its website, making great play of "being easy to work with" and "taking customer care very seriously" - well not in my experience!!

replacement sofa »june 0921/12/20090

we bought a new sofa from scs on the 4th january 2009,first of all we were told it was buy now pay nothing for a year,we eventually recieved our sofa in march 09 and recieved a letter saying payments start a month after recieving it.after approx 2 months we started to notice the colour was coming of on the corners and back cushion.we eventually got somebody out to look at it and repair it,all they did was get a tub of paint and touched it up,then they got called out again a few weeks later with the same problem and after a few weeks they replaced the back cushion which is again starting to loose colour, they have been out four times so far in 8 months and keep getting fobed off with excuses as we now want the whole thing replacing but our cover runs out in january which we think is why they are hanging on till it runs out.i am extemely discusted with the so called service provided and will be getting in touch with trading standards to sort it out as i am not prepared to keep chasing it up every week to get yet another excuse.

Refund »06/200927/01/20100
Bought a set of sofas in June 2009.
After 2 weeks they started cracking and breaking on the arms, on all of them. We rang SCS customer service, after 2 weeks a man has come to check on the furniture.
They said it can only be repaired and there is no way for refund or a different set of furniture.
After that we have sent out a few letters to them, complaining that we have paid for a quality furniture and we don`t accept them repaired. Another phone calls and nothing. In august 2009 we asked the solicitors for help. During another 5 months of waiting the solicitors have managed to get us a full refund.
Now it only leaves us with solicitors bill over 800 pounds.
We are trying to get the fee for the laywer back, I think that they should give the money in the first place, not after the solicitors are mantioned, I`m really sick of calling them and all of that situation. Will never buy from them again + if i read some complains here before i wouldn`t ever buy from them anyway.

Leather sofa peeling »August 201114/09/20110
I bought a sofa from ScS a couple of years ago and started peeling badly a few months ago so I decided to complain but they keep claiming is my fault for cleaning the sofa with a cleaning kit from IKEA which I only used once to help get rid of the peeling. I urge everyone who had problems with ScS sofas to join forces and expose them to any agency available in the UK to put a stop to ripping off hundreds of customers. I am taking legal action so please anyone email me so we can do something about it.
Email: willyvs@talk21.com

I am still paying for it through an third party company so can anyone give me some advice whether I can stop the direct debit payments? Thank you.

seriously defective product »1.5yr from purchase29/12/20110
I know the guarantee is only for one year, but I think it's seriously poor that £1000 worth of sofa (and that being sale price) is so ill designed that the back cushion curves around the sitter, pulling on the seem to such an extent that only around 18months from purchase it tore wide open. This is not wear and tear, it is caused by a design flaw.

We should not be in need of a new sofa already, but as it stands, the sofa searching we are doing right now, certainly WONT be including ScS, and I would discourage anyone from buying from ScS.

2 seated black sofa »June 201102/01/20120
I bought a ScS Sofa a couple of years ago worth £600 and starting peeling badly last year - I contacted them and they would not take responsibility and kept fobbing me off so after a couple of complaint letters they said it had been my fault as a result of cleaning the sofa (which I did after the peeling occurred) so I am in the process building ScS Sofas complaints profile to get a refund as I will not accept a replacement from this disgraceful company.

Poor delivery »19.05.0919/05/20090

I orderd furniture for my dining room being a sideboard and a display cabinet. Both peices of furniture were similar in size to exhisting peices which I wanted to replace, the cost being £745. As I live in a town house I pointed out to the salesman that the furniture needs to go up a flight of stairs. the salesman saw no issue with this

I took delivery today (or rather didn't) the delivery people said that the display cabint would not go up the stairs, despite it being only 1 cm taller and 3 cm wider than my exhisting one which our removal company put in less than 3 years ago with no problem at all. They both stood at the bottom of my stairs in my hallway saying we can try but i'm telling you it won't go in. They did not even take the furniture off the lorry and made no attempt to try. I sent them away and then contacted Harveys who said I can't cancel I can have somthing else and they''ll be a20% restock charge as it was my responsibilty to ensure that it will fit in. I thought I had, I had checked with the sales assistant about the stairs and the room being on the first floor I bought a cupboard the same size as one I already had. I have had to ammend my order which has cost me more, I have had to incurr a restock charge of over £100 I have wasted a whole morning trying to deal with a company who can only say you've signed our T &C's. I will never use Harveys again. And the motto.

If you buy furniture from Harveys hire a surveyor to ensure that the delivery staff can get it in your house, or better still go somewhere else.

accidental damage »30.03.201001/06/20100
I informed the department that one of my grandchildren had torn one on our leather dining chairs they did it was a toy car, they sent an inspector round who said it not due to accident, its a scar in the material thats weaken. Now my grandson told us as soon as he had done it and there is a small tear on the chair next to it where he had run the car across. My insurance policy clearly states on it Accidental Damage and stains. I have been told they will not be doing anything as we are NOT COVERED FOR ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE.

This is total misleading by the saleperson who said this was the perfect insurance to take out with as any accident are covered. This company sell the insurance put are not prepared to honour the cover. I am taking action to claim back the insurance we paid.

One compnay I shall never purchase from again.
