Reneged on agreement »14 March 201114/04/20117
I was sold a motorcare warranty for life for £399 by Dales Motors of Scorrier Cornwall when I bought a new car in March 2008. I am now told that the company has ceased trading and that the warranty is only for one year after which it can be renewed for about £200 each year. I have lodged a complaint at companies house and asked them to suspend action on motorcares application to de-register them as a Ltd company for 6 months to allow people like us time to bring them to account. If you wish to add weight to this action, email enquiries@companyhouse.gov.uk marked for the attention of the Dissolution Section, naming the company and your case and ask them to suspend the dissolution action.

wont pay for repair »10th jan 200917/02/20095

i bought a freelander in 2008, with a years warranty, advised this was best warranty to go for, as with all freelanders, the head and gaskets can go. this warranty covered everything i needed it too, or so i thought. the car started to leak water, so went into a garage, the water pump had a leak and was fixed, after a while the car started to leak water again, went into the garage, the inlet manifold was fixed, after a few more months, the car started to leak water again, a different garage found that the head gasket had gone and the liners had dropped. it was advised it would be more cost effective to fit a new engine. warranty company said no, because its my fault for driving the car with a known fault and not repairing the car. tried to explain to them that it had been into the garage 3 times to be repaired, they wouldnt have that either, said i would send invoices to prove it, they still said no, they said its down to my supplier who sold me the car, proveeda in ipswich, he said no he isnt paying. we went to loyds of london, who it says on the warranty wise web site underwrites the warranty, they have no knowledge of warranty wise. i have in good faith paid for a warranty, that covers the parts that have failed and warranty wise are refusing to pay for the repair. I have since found a web site with a forum full of complaints about warranty wise and the fact they always refuse to pay.

Starter Motor Failure »14/9/1028/09/20102
The starter motor broke on my 3 series BMW. I phoned the breakdown service and got the car towed to my approved BMW Franchise garage. It was late in the day so I couldn't call Autoprotect until the morning. I did this first thing (about 9:00 when they first opened) on their Premium Rate phone number, which really annoys me to start with. I explained the situation and was told I probably would have a claim. They asked me to phone the garage and get them to speak to the claims desk so that they could run through the process with them. I did this right away. Unfortunately, the garage, being super-efficient and knowing how much I rely having my car had already fitted a new starter motor. The garage owner informed autoprotect at the beginning of his phone call that this had already been done, and then about 15 minutes later (on their premium rate number) they informed him that they would not be paying because he had already fitted the part. He asked them to explain this reasoning, and they told him that they would need to come and inspect the old one to make sure it was mechanical failure and that they would source a replacement, if needed. He asked how long this would take, bearing in mind that he still had the old one, and they couldn't tell him, apparantly it could take up to a week! So, I am supposed to be without my car for a week while they decide when they are going to come and look? and then what? another week while they make a decision not to pay? I live in an area where public transport is virtually non-existent and need my car on a daily basis (basically I can't get to work without it) I find this totally unacceptable, and having read quite a few other stories on the net today, I would STRONGLY advise against anyone taking out a warranty with this company!

WARRANTYWISE DECLINE CLAIM »05/04/201206/04/20122
I hold a warranty 10/100 with warrantywise, My car developed 2 issues.
The first one was the front passanger window regulator failed.
The second the airbag, engine management light came on.
I contacted Warrantywise and advised them i would take my BMW 745Li ti BWM and have the diognostics done they told me they would not pay due to the amount the diognostics cost.
I decided to take the car to a BMW specialist Alan Price in Blackburn.
He carried out the diagnostics and advised me the airbag/engine mangement light was on due to a voltage drop and the had to be reprogrammed, the window regulator had to be replaced at the cost of £645.46.
Warrantywise were aware my car was at this garage.
Alan price tried on numerous occasions to contact warrantywise over 4 days suprise suprise no reply.
I eventually got through to them and they were aware my car had been at the garage for 6 days, they blamed the garage for not completing their paper work which was never sent i have all the emails and was only sent on the 7th day and was promptly completed by Alan Price.
I made a choice to pay for the repairs and these were completed.
Warrantywise called me on the 4th April 2012, to advise me to send in the invoice and the claim was put on hold due to the fact i had authrised the repairs (the car had been there 7 days the garage wanted it out).
In the evening of 4th April 2012 i recieved a email from Warrantywise showing my claim had been decliend due to me authrising the repairs and this is stipulated on my policy.
I was told to pay for the repairs by warrantywise and send an invoice which i was about to do on tuesday, but instead they will recieve a county court letter.

Warranty Wise Never Pay Out »april 201206/05/20122
Recently had a good customer of mine purchase a warranty for his low mileage audi a4 2.0 tdi, unfortuantely it broke due to oil pump failure, I called warrenty wise and they said get the customer to authorise engine to be removed for inspection which we did they then sent an engineer out to inspect and he said engine needed to be stripped further to access damage which was a fair comment, warreny wise then sent an email to say claim declined as further inspection required, I called warrenty wise again and said surely it would of made sense to say calim on hold until further inspection not just declined instantly (which then put a huge doubt in our minds) i then stripped engine for further inspection called warrenty wise again they then arranged engineer call out. The engineer turned up and inspected and went on his merry way!! 6 days go by and nothing say once again i called them and they advised me that they had already wrote to customer (they never) and denied the claim once again due to wear and tear which i add that his policy covers it, so once agin i called them they say that because its not mechanical failure they will not pay. The polict covers premature wear and tear which i feel a low mileage audi should not wear out at this mileage, i may add audi are aware of this fault and recongnise the problem and have since modified the oil pumo which only backs up the complaint of premature wear. Warrenty wise have now said to follow the complint precedure which involves dealing with 4 different people via email. In my opion warrenty wise is complete con DO NOT BUY A POLICY FROM THESE CON MEN!!!! I will pursue this claim to the very end

power Steering Pump »24/05/1025/05/20101
Auto protect are very poor to deal with - firstly you have to ring a premium rate number - of course you are kept waiting for ages before anyone answers - you are advised to take the car to a Ford dealer in my case - they advised that the pipes in the system needing replacing but Autoprotect don't cover this - so I opted to take my car to a "proper" garage where they charge "proper" rates- they advised that it was the pump that was faulty and the pipes were fine - replaced the pump - so called Auto Protect again (on the premium rate number) to claim - was told that as I had had it done without authorisation I could not claim. This was a supposed Gold cover - what a waste of time and money - these companies are just scams using tactics such as this - making money from premium 0871 numbers and obviously refusing ANY claims

STARTER MOTOR »MAY 200705/07/20111
I HAVE JUST DISCOVERED THIS WEB SITE,EVEN THOUGH THE INCIDENT OCCURED SO LONG AGO I STILL FEEL IT IS IMPORTANT TO MAKE PEOPLE AWARE THAT THIS COMPANY WILL TRY EVERY THING TO AVOID PAYING A CLAIM.
IN MY CASE THE STARTER MOTOR FOR MY VOLVO XC90 SEIZED,WHEN THEY CAME TO INSPECT THEY REFUSED TO PAY BECAUSE IT WAS WEAR AND TEAR.I DECIDED TO TO OBTAIN A REPORT FROM AN INDEPENDANT ENGINEER OF WHOM THEY APPROVED AND HE CONFIRMED THAT IN HIS OPINION IT WAS A MECHANICL BREAKDOWN NOT WEAR AND TEAR.
IT IS OBVIOUS THAT AUTO PROTECT WILL ALLWAYS GET OUT OF PAYING BY CLAIMING WEAR AND TEAR AS WE HAVE SEEN IN MANY OTHER CASES.I DID REFER IT TO THE OMBUDSMAN,BUT IN THE END I JUST GAVE UP BECAUSE IT WAS TOO TIME CONSUMING.

Head gasket failure due to wear & tear »1/2/201305/02/20131
We took a warranty out on an MGTF that had done 24,000 after being assured that the head gasket would be covered. Reading the small print the policy did say providing it wasn't wear and tear, neglect or over heating problem it should pay out. So dutifully had it serviced as required and checked it weekly for the usual signs. At 38000 we were concerned so took it to garage who feared failure. We had it stripped down and it was confirmed as a failure. Autoprotect sent an assessor to check car who agreed it was a simple failure. Even expressed his surprise at being called out. Unfortunately whatever he reported was interpreted as wear and tear and autoprotect refused claim. We are now waiting for a letter explaining the reason for this and a copy of the engineers report. Why do we continually spend our money on insurance knowing full well if they can weasel out of it they will!!??

Warranty Claim on Oil Pump for Audi A6 2007 2.0 TDi »10/09/201227/09/20121
Hello,

GO Car Warranty also trading as Auto Protect have refused to accept warranty claim on a faulty oil pump.

After torturous process of arranging their engineer to inspect, followed by numerous additional queries, requests for pictures, their insistence to keep striping the unit ever further, even to the protestation of the garage mechanics who had identified the fault, this morning they refused to accept the claim.

I was advised whilst they accept the oil pump is faulty and they accept it would need replacement, they are now arguing over the definition of what constitutes a 'mechanical failure' and in this case they are insistent that this particular failure is not sudden and therefore not covered!!! I am of course furious and will contest this at every avenue open to me.

They have also verified from Audi that this particular fault is a genuine fault so I am at a loss how Auto Protect can still find ways to refuse this claim. They are arguing that the part would have worn out over a period therefore it does not fit the 'sudden mechanical failure'. How on Gods earth is a driver able to anticipate this type of failure; this is not a serviceable item and not one subject to any MOT or other inspection and certainly not noticeable until the actual failure.

I own a 2004 Range Rover 4.4ltr Vogue which developed a "clatter" on turning right, there was also a noise that appeared to be coming from the engine. After calling six specialist companies, all of whom refused to deal with Warrentywise due to bad publicity throughout the industry, i managed to convince a local Land Rover specialist to carry out investorgatory work and locate the problems.
The "clatter" was found to be two failed constant velocity joints, the failiure was due to split gaitors which is a common problem on all cars.
The engine noise was found to be due to a failed weld on a catalytic converter.
After trying for six hours to get through to Warrentywise the garage finally managed to get the reports faxed over to them, the claim was swiftly refused due to the CV's and Cat not being covered by the warrenty, the reason being given was that the gaitors which protect the CV joint were not mechanical so therefore not covered by the warrenty, the fact that they are an integral part of the CV joint seemed not to be of interest to them. The catalytic converter was said not to be covered because it had not failed in its ability to do its job but was due to a split weld. I quickly contacted one of the companies MD's who just repeated the same info i got from the claims dept parrot fashion.
They have taken over £1000 pounds from me for a warrenty that they clearly had no intention of honouring. I have now found many forums which show that this is a Warrentywise standard practice.

I now await a full written explaination for the reason behind the refusal to honour the claim.

i found my car wouldn't start 40 days in to the cover so i put it in to the main dealer for repair. they advised me it was the wiring loom that connects the key fob receiver to the in car computer, and that it had failed due to normal ware and tear.
warranty wise refused the claim saying the vehicle has been on risk for 41 days and the condition would have been developing prior to the policy inspection. (they eventually sent an inspector around, after messing the garage around with timings)
I have no idea what this means, other than they are not going to pay.
as i under stood it they had claimed to cover ware and tear on all the not normally serviced parts.

can anyone help?

Warrantywise not paying out »march 201201/09/20121

My experience with Warrantywise:

I bought warrantywise warranty, the highest warranty available which covers all parts, I made a few small claims and they were approved and I eventually received my money. However one day my engine malfunctioned, after taking it to the VW dealers they stated I needed a new engine. Warrantywise made numerous excuses as to why they will not pay out, they are as follows:

1st reason – After inspecting my vehicle they refused to pay out because I was at fault for driving the vehicle when it was over heating. Just to confirm I am fully aware of the temperature gauge in my car, it is clearly visible and it was always on 90°C as it should be. In addition to the temperature gauge in my car I have also a dashboard alert which will appear if the engine is too hot.

2nd reasons – they requested the engine to be dismantled at my expense before they will reassess the claim. After having my engine dismantled Warrantywise went to a different reason not to pay out.

3rd reason - Warrantywise requested VAT registered invoices for previous servicing, I was the owner from 2011 they wanted me to get servicing invoices from 2005-2011. This was bizarre as Warrantywise are a used car warranty company and it would be difficult to get invoices for servicing from previous owners.

4th reason – Invalidated my warranty policy until all servicing invoices where provided. On the website it clearly says when the warranty is purchased we will check the vehicle and service information, nevertheless I have had numerous small claims approved before but now that my vehicle needed a new engine ‘my service history is inaccurate’ even though my service has been done at the supplying dealer and all stamps and invoices have been provided.

5th reason – Warrantywise cancelled my 2 year policy with 10 months left on my contract. - I find this outrageous; Warrantywise thought that I wouldn’t be to provide VAT registered invoices of the service history. Once provided, Warrantywise took a few days to find another escape route to stop them accepting my claim. They then decided they would cancel my policy altogether with no meaningful reasoning whatsoever.

Warrantywise refused to talk to me in regards to any warranty related issue as stated in their final letter to me. After filing for a court hearing and spending just under £150 for court cost, I was able to resolve the issue by accepting a partial amount back.

Details about repair:

Vehicle broke down:                           March 2012
Repair done:                                       April 2012

Issue resolved:                                    October 2012

Cost of repair:                                     £2686.85
Warrantywise payment:                     £2000.00

Warrantywise have paid me for several smaller claims but refused to pay out for the new engine as it was a large amount of repair cost, even though the contract says they will pay unto the value of the car, which in my case was £4600. But after a stressful 7 months i was able to resolve the issue.

So I am hoping my experience will help others out.

Thanks

SUPPLYING ? RENEWING WARRANTIES WITH NO INSURANCE BACKING »October 201001/09/20111
We purchase a life time warranty with our car in 2006 which was renewed each year by submitting serive invoices. We had our first claim which was authorised by Motorcare in 2010 but failed to pay the coutstanding claim. In the end we had to sell our car on the ramps to pay the garage. We have lost our family car and in a £500 run around.

I have complained to the FSA and monitoring them. I have been to the UK ombudsman twice once on the claim handling which was an unregualted activity and advised to go after the insurers and secondly on renewing policies with no insurance backing which is fraudulant and advised to go to FSCS. Motorcare issued documents and policies saying our insurers were Alpha Insurance a Danish Company were our insurers. Alpha are claiming that they never agreed to take on our policy and to go back to orginal insurers templeton Isle of Man.

Templeton Insurance say that they are not regulated to issue lifetime warranties and it had to be renewed each year and that our policy expired in 2007, despite having written confirmation for Motorcare of our renewal.

I will not rest until justice is brought against Motorcare and that we are compensate for our loss.

I can not believe that UK regulators can not helkp us in the situation. Surely the company is answerable to this fraudulant behaviour, as at the minute they have disappeared and their location and identity being protected.

I urge EVERYONE to keep on to Autoprotect, Kay International, Templeton, FSA and Ombudsman to show that we won't take this lying down.

I have also reported Motorcare to the police for fraudulant behaviour and urge everyone to do the same.

Astra 1.7CDTI (2005) oil warning light flickered, pulled into M6 services, clatter from engine and would not start. Called AA who confirmed serious problem and car was recovered to home.
Garage identified fault as nut coming loose on oil pump, which stripped thread and caused further damage in the engine. Auto Protect refused to accept the claim (under my "Gold" policy) with the excuse that the nut coming loose was not instantaneous and did not cause a sudden stoppage of function.
My opinion is this was a sudden mechanical breakdown, that could not be prevented or predicted and is covered by my "Gold" policy. Further research, on the Web, reveals many complaints by customers of Auto Protect, that their legitimate claims have been denied.

Engine Failure »July 201015/11/20100

APA have refused to pay for a new engine when water coolant had been leaking into the engine.
They sent a engineer to inspect the fault having had Land Rover investigate the problem for us (was bought from a private dealer in Salisbury who is equally at fault) and sited a fault with a water pipe that had recently been replaced as causing the engine to fail.(pipes not covered)
Our own inspection, which we paid for, did not conclude the same problem, needless to say APA (Auto Ptotect) disagree and so having read the "Gold Cover" and seeing "engine" as being covered i believe the wording is open to interpretation i have contacted the FSA who believe that the Financial Ombudsman would cover this company so i am due to check this out later today.
Auto Protect believe they are independant from this as they are not an insurance company?
We could take the original dealer The Elite Carriage Company Salisbury to court as he sold a vehicle that had several faults on collection which he dismissed as code errors!Engine management light coming on during return to Gloucestershire as well as inactive suspension and brake pad lights (all fixed at a Land Rover dealer)
The vehicle is a 6 year old Range Rover 4.4 i believe, husband did mention that, i think!! Only 69000 on the clock and we only added a further 1500 before it failed.
Just being bothered to take him to court really (i know it sounds mad) but we have endured a lot of stress already this year and last and it all mounts up.
So hope that the FSA could inspect what is going on with this dreadful warranty company
I really hope that APA read their own bad press but i shall not be giving up just yet!

Refused Claim - terrible service »16.02.201119/02/20110
I purchased Auto Protect Cover through Go Car Warranty in Jan 2011, when my car started leaking in February I rang and they told me to take it to the arrange, have it assessed and call them for approval to carry out the work.

They insisted that the car have the part removed so the claim could be approved, however this meant that I would have to pay for the work also even if they did not approve the claim. This was not explained to me at the time.

Three registered Hyundai Specialist have told them that the leak in my car WAS NOT caused my corrosion yet they say the photgraphs show that it was. Then when questioned further they admitted that the photos are not clear enough to make a judgement.

Now I have had to pay the garage and have to also pay for the insurance even though it does not mean the purpose for which it was intended.

I just want them to admit that they cannot judge the claim and agree that the industry experts at Hyundai must be correct after all they see these parts all the time, how can their expertise be worth nothing?

They also wanted me to commission an expert engineers report however, this may mean that I am throwing more money away - who's to say that they will accept his opinion when that of the dealership is not good enough?

AT THE END OF THE FINAL YEAR WITH THIS "SMALL PRINT" COMPANY I WOULD ADVISE EVERYONE NOT TO USE THEM. JUST REMEMBER YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. PAY PEANUTS AND YOU GET MONKEYS.

THE FIRST CLAIM WAS ON A PROP SHAFT, YES ITS IN THE POLICY - BUT OH NO THIS IS WEAR AND TEAR. THREATENED OMBUDSMAN AND EVENTUALLY GOT CLAIM THROUGH. NEXT CLAIM GEAR BOX - YES YOU HAVE GUESSED RIGHT - WEAR AND TEAR. THE CAR BROKE DOWN ON THE MOTORWAY AA WERE BRILLIANT - TOOK AN AGE TO SETTLE CLAIM ON WHICH WE HAD TO PAY A PROPORTION - GREAT GUARANTEE!!!

FINALLY, I WAS INFORMED THE CAR HAD TO BE SERVICED ANNUALLY - NO MENTION OF MILEAGE, CAR SERVICED - POWER STEERING PUMP PROBLEM - YES RIGHT AGAIN (WELL ALMOST) CAR HAS DONE TOO MANY MILES SINCE LAST SERVICE ALBEIT 1 YEAR AGO.

HOW CAN THESE COMPANIES EXIST - WE KEEP THEM GOING!!!! SUGGEST WE CHNAGE THE FORMULA AND USE A DIFFERENT COMPANY EVEN IF ITS A BIT MORE EXPENSIVE.

The complaint is in regards to my car warranty, the policy is held with auto protect warranty, Based in Harlow Essex, I purchased the car just over 12 months ago, and it came with a 12 month warranty, purchase date 25/04/2011 claim date 19/04/2012 the problem with the car was a issue with the air suspension, car is a 2005 Mercedes cls, the warranty I have is a gold protection with a £1000 of cover, the car has been taken to a Mercedes dealership for repair, the dealers have liased with the warranty, who have said they can not authorise the claim until they have sent out a independent inspector to look at the car and asses the claim and fault, upon inspection they have summarised they will only pay half for the part and pay the labour cost of £37 per hr,  total time will be 5 hrs, the garage are charging approx £127+vat, so there for I will be paying the difference the part cost is £587 the warranty say they will only pay 50% of the part cost £279, when the warranty states I have £1000 of cover p, the total the warranty will pay towards the whole claim is £589.49 that's inclusive of 98.25 VAT. I have called the warranty and spoken to them and they have authorised the repair but stating the part is a wear and tear fault and will ,only pay half the cost for the part, and given the age and mileage they will not pay the whole cost for the part, the garage confirm this part has broken down and failed and is not a total wear and tear failure it's a mechanicle part that has failed. The warranty have some information in there policy guide that does not state this clearly, the car was purchased from a company named JRP cars London ripely, there are numerous complaints about this warranty company on the Internet I have read about where other customer have experienced similar issues on a website called can you trust them.com.... And search auto protect. Please help me as I think this is really unfair on how customers are being miss sold policy's and information. Have been made aware my approximate cost on my behalf will be £581 approximate, I have made a claim previouse with this warranty where I hade a fault with the gearbox on the car and they paid the total parts cost and the same rate for the labour, this was the same type of mechanicle breakdown, wear and tear parts would be classified as more along the lines of break pads. And disc ect, or maybe even regular susupension, but this a air spring where the leak as incurred do to a fault in a seal,  I hope to hear from you soon and hope you can resolve or assist me further with this matter many thanks Gurj Dugh Ps I do have photos of where the car is not sitting at the correct level with the faulty part, also I will be paying for the repair and will have the invoice, I have been without a car for over 2 weeks.

Please help me recover £586 have had to pay for something this warranty should have covered.
