*****DO NOT SHOP AT ERNEST JONES****** »February 2010yes24/08/20100
I bought an Armani watch from your St Pauls branch in October 2007, for roughly £200. The battery stopped in February 2010 when the watch was just older than 2 years. I took it back to the branch that i bought it from, in order to have the battery replaced. I was quoted a fee of £40 and told it would take 10 days to be repaired. That was in Februaury.....it's now August and i still DO NOT have this watch back. Despite numerous visits into the branch, where i am given a different story every single time and told that it will be back and ready for collection within 10 days. I have only been called ONCE in all this time, at the end of July, only to be told (after complaining bitterly to a lady in store for the appaulling service) that the watch still was not fixed and would be another week. I was also advised that the watch sat in the back room of the St Pauls branch for three months, during which time, nothing was done to repair it. It turned out that the workshop thought it was with the store but the store thought the watch was with the workshop! Their slogin is "The Diamond and Watch specialist" - i find this extremely ironic given my totally unacceptable experience with you. DO NOT shop at this jeweller if you don't want to experience poor customer service, rude staff and the inability to replace a simple battery!!

SCAM!!! »05/08/09yes24/08/20100
My mums always had finacial dificulty and I was going off to university, so I resorted to desperation and applied to work for model couples. They fooled me and told me the minute I regster I will get work and even went as far to tell me about a client they had lined up and all I would have to do is have dinner with him. I thought thats safe enough and even bought an attack alarm just incase i found myself in a situation I wasnt comfortable with. They gave me all their bank details and made me feel very secure and so I paid the money. they told me i would be listed on their website for a year, and a years just passed and not once did I get any work. the money was paid so that they will give me clients and not once did they therefore the money wasnt used as it sould be! I contacted them many timesa and was reassured something would turn up, but it never did.

Scam »30/07/2010no24/08/20101
Me and my partner were a bit strapped for cash so I decided to sign up to an escort agency. This is where I came across Selective Partners. They asked me for a registration fee of £300, but I didnt have the money (hence the reason I was signing up in the first place). I was getting regular calls from them over the next few days and "ADELE" said she would have a word with her manager and see if they could send me out on the booking with me only paying £100 before hand. I would pay the remaining £200 once I'd been with the client. I stupidly used some of our rent money as it sounded like such an opportunity. I paid the money into the NAT WEST account on the Friday and emailed the receipt over. After alot of messing about Adele told me the insurance company was closed and I would definately have a booking by Tuesday at the latest. I said that was fine and she assured me she'd be in touch. A week later I sent an email stating that if I wasnt contacted by Monday morning I would assume I had been scammed. Low and behold Monday morning I received a phone call, I was told that business was a bit slow and they were trying to get bookings for me. I havent heard from them since. I have called them and sent emails. The ladies I spoke to seemed really nice and were very convincing. It was too good to be true.

PRICE MATCH GUARANTEE »24th August 2010no24/08/20100
Made a confirmed booking with OTB yesterday and felt fairly secure in the knowledge that they have a "Price Match Guarantee"! What a rip off - I found the holiday 15 minutes later on the Travel Republic website for £131.62 cheaper absolutely 'like for like'. If OTB match their price guarantee, they should be refunding me 3 times the price difference - therefore £394.86, should be coming my way. I emailed them exactly what they asked for, including the URL and matched the holiday exactly, using 'NO FRILLS' flights, baggage costs and hotel/board basis. They have responded stating that any holidays booked using 'NO FRILLS' flights will not be included in the Price Match Promise Guarantee. BEWARE BUYERS, YET ANOTHER HOLIDAY COMPANY SCAM. WHY NOT INCLUDE THE NO FRILLS FLIGHTS, IT IS A LIKE FOR LIKE HOLIDAY - CONSUMERS RIPPED OFF YET AGAIN. They also charge 10p per minutes for their customer services helpline - yet again another consumer rip off. Needless to say I spend about £12,000 per year on holidays and shall not be using a company that misleads its customers.

NO WAY TO CANCEL PRODUCT!!! »17/07/10no24/08/20100
I am trying in vain to cancel a product purchased from Max Colo Blast - Colopure Cleanse (has a 10 day trial period from when order placed, disregarding delivery time!) However, I cannot get through on any of the tel. no. they have listed on their website to make the cancellation. Unless I cancel, they will collect $87.47 after 10 days, keep sending me the product and keep charging me accordingly. I am appalled that there is no way to contact these people, not one single tel no works, and there is no e-mail which is contrary to what they state in their terms and conditions.

Beware change of phone operator »20th August 2010no23/08/20100
I left the O2 mobile operator arising from poor value on roaming calls and poor phone upgrades. I had been with them for over twenty years and was a loyal customer although on mature reflection my staying with them was more apathy and laziness rather than a vote of confidence. I joined Vodafone being particularly careful to leave on the day of termination of my 18 month contract. I spoke with o2 representatives concerning the mechanics of changeover and was told not to cancel before the end of the contract to avoid a cancellation penalty. I enrolled with Vodafone on the afternoon of the contract end date as I wished not to have any issues of being charged for an extra month if I delayed into the morning of the next day. I was told that the new service would be available for me later that evening. I received my last bill one month after the transfer in the sum of €9.52 which was for calls not processed before the change - there being no monthly fee. I have now received a bill from O2 for a penalty of one months rental for cancelling the contract early. If I had left it until the next day I would have been charged for an extra month. This appears to be sharp practice by O2 and they provide little assistance to their customers. You cannot give advance notice of your intent to leave!! I spent some 15 minutes talking to a quite pleasant lady in customer service who eventually agreed to write off this last invoice. The total time spent on the phone being circa 25 minutes. BEWARE of sharp practices by mobile phone operators. The application of a cancellation charge for a small number of hours advanced cancellation is patently unfair and one should not have to waste your time in having the unfair charges cancelled.

upfront fees »23/08/2010no23/08/20100
I paid an up front fee to this company some time ago. I was passed on to one lender, who turned me down for a loan. When I checked my bank statement they had taken two lots o £59.00 from my account. I phoned them several times costing me a fortune and they said they would put £59.00 into my account. Instead they sent a cheque which was inconvenient. As I didn't hear from Wentworth, I wrote to them asking for the £59.00 fee back as I had decided against using them. I sent the letter on 17/08/2010. I r4ceived a letter today, 23/08/2010, dated 20/08/2010, saying that a lender will be contacting me in a few days. I phoned Wentworth and they said that my account had not been closed and that they could not tell me when I would get my money back. I need that money and want it back as soon as possible.

Extortion / Sharp Practices »July 2010no23/08/20100
I owned a Citreon C4, reg. LG05 FWU, and decided that I needed to downgrade to a vehicle that was cheaper to run. I went to Wilsons in Epsom and they offered me £4100 in part exchange. After discussing my situation/requirements I chose another vehicle, Peugeot 1007, reg MD06 FFB, at a cost of £3999. The deal was done. On collecting the vehicle it had a flat tyre. This was rectified. I drove the vehicle away, stopped half a mile around the corner and could not open the passenger door. I returned with the vehicle, it was inspected and the electrics for opening the door were found to be faulty. They said it would have to be booked in at a later date for repair. I had owned the car for half and hour at this point. Having got the car home, I quickly realised just how unsuitable the car was, i.e. no boot, therefore unsuitable for use with a baby. The salesman knew I needed something suitable for use with a baby. This was my main criteria. I should point out that the salesman said he has 2 children and knew the amount of stuff that comes with them, even going into details about the car his wife drives. I telephoned Wilsons the very next day and told them the situation and asked if I could change it for something else. They said that I could, however they would be unable to give me back the price I paid, £3999, as it was now registered as having another keeper and that it would now only be worth £3000 to them. As I could not get out of the deal I was forced to accept that I would have to give the car back to them at whatever price they would offer and buy another car from them in exchange. I went down there and found the only suitable car I could afford was a Renault Megane priced at £4995. After a lot of haggling, phone calls and stress I finally had to settle on the following. £3500.00 for the Peugeot £4999.00 cost of Renault £1499.00 Balance to pay for Peugeot £ 120.00 approx. refund from Tax Disc £1379.00 the overall balance for swapping the cars over. I was forced to pay this amount as there was nothing else suitable on their forecourt for the money and they were not prepared to cancel the agreement on the Peugeot. The Peugeot is now being re-advertised at Wilsons for £4289.00. They have not had to reduce the cost of it and are actually advertising it for more than I originally paid for it and more than originally advertised. Firstly I cannot see how they can do this if it is still registered in my name (the V5 Reg Doc is on its way to me), secondly how can they justify their reasons for giving me less for the vehicle due to it having another keeper registered against it when they are clearly selling it for more than I paid. Also, the vehicle I gave them in part exchange of £4100 is now being advertised for £5689.00. The vehicle did have bumper damage however this was being repaired under my insurance. With all the above figures in mind I fail to see how I could have caused them to make a loss anywhere.
